Im a little late to the party here but i have another long term review on the xd 5.0.
I purchased mine new in 2016 and i still use the truck 6 day's a week pulling my utility trailer full of commercial equipment each day.
My xd has been deleted entirely from the egr cooler to the exhaust tip and tuned for roughly 6 years now.
The truck has had 0 mechanical issues since new except for regular maintenances like hub assemblies, batteries, etc.
Just recently, the truck had to have the swing valve actuator replaced which was indeed somewhat costly and inconvenient to calibrate.
Point is, at 8 years old now and still being a fantastic truck that has helped make my business prosperous, id say its done great to make it this far without any major issues!
So i guess im the 2nd lucky one lol!

I have a 2016 titan XD Cummins as well it's the pro 4x I bought it in October 2022 and I've already taken it to the shop 3 times for different reasons 2 times regarding the 1 fuel lift pump and 2 fuel rail the 3rd time wasn't really the trucks fault it was previous owner for a fuel leak but over all I do like it but I think for long term deleting the truck would be the best option for reliability

“Cummins” not “Cummings”. Drop the “g” on the end.

I've owned 3 Titans, 2 gassers and just bought a 2019 XD, wasn't necessarily seeking the Cummins, but I had been interested in them for a few years. With the rebates, and what they offered for my trade, I had to do it.
One thing I have learned about having them, is that they may not be the "best" in any particular category.... Looks, performance, tech, luxury, reliability, price, etc. But they are pretty damn good in all of them. I'm good with that. Great review, keep up the good work. Thanks

Anyone that Has a Titan (yr16-19) should visit Nissan dealerships. They have updates on the ECM/TCM. My truck runs better than before. Shifts better & kicks better like my 2005 Titan.

I had the tailgate issue, and my radio lights would go on and off when I was on the phone. Mysteriously it quite about a year ago. Dealer replaced the latch on the tailgate under warranty. For DEF I just went to the truck stop and got DEF from the pump. At $2 a gallon its alot cheaper than a jug. Never spent more than $6 to fill it up when its low. I'm d3l3ted now and what a world of difference, even on the zero hp tune.

Thanks for the video! I bought mine DEC 17. I have the same tailgate lock problem. I would love to know how you fixed it. Of course it always worked for the dealer when I was trying to get if fixed under warranty. I found out about a year after I bought it my 4 WD doesnt have positrac. WTF?? Mine also has a hesitation in the engine response when you press the fuel pedal. Other than those things I think its a great truck.

I’d like to know if you still have the truck and how many miles are on it.

Go back to your stock air cleaner on an unmodified engine there’s no measurable difference in performance with a K&N and they only filter about 60% as good as your stock filter. (check out the article at Diesel Power magazine) With water methanol injection you will eliminate the need for your DEF system and gain about 70 pound feet of torque and about 2 miles a gallon. Plus whatever miles are left in your engine you’re probably double them because the engine runs so clean. I don’t know what oil you’re running but on your next change I would switch to Amsoil diesel 5-40 . I run it in everything. I mean in everything, my crown Victoria(142k) my Honda lawnmower my John Deere lawn mower and my Victory 106 (67k), and my old Mercedes Benz 300 D(678k) AndAnd I am not bragging but none of these vehicles except the Benz, burn oil including my old F350. Which really pisses off my Cummins buddies! And finding that sweet spot at 2000 RPM and keeping it there that’s the secret to keeping any motor running a long time. I run diesel equipment for a living. I wish they made a diesel V-twin, I think this victory motor would be a good platform.

Just found your video and found it very informative. I too have a 16 XD with a fraction of the miles you have. I would love to see a continuation of your mileage and the tailgate modification.

If you're having to add DEF every other weekend, it might be because you are watering down the DEF and it is having to use more to heat up the exhaust system to perform its job.
I get about 1500 to 1800 miles on 2.5 gallons of DEF, and fill it around 5% left or when it is in the RED. You can run it all the way to the point that it will say it will go to restricted mode in ~200 miles.

Currently driving an F-350., 6.0 crewcab with 170k on it, lots of 4hrse towing. Only mod is a bulletproof egr cooler and a 4 in xhaust, Otherwise an all stock runner, Thinking about one of these Titans tho for the 2horse and daily driver, how bout water methanol? It reduces regen and way more torque! Good revue, thanks!
