INTO THE FIRE

I put on the armor
To battle the devil's flames
Into the fire I ran
Chasing it back
With all that I had
Back to the hell
From which it came
But the man who went in
Never came back

And I'd never trade
The price that I paid
For dancing with the devil
Or the lives that I've saved
And I hope that you'll forgive me
For doing what I loved to do
I was made to fight the ashes
The embers and flames
I was born to make it rain

And that's why we run
Into the fire
Into the blaze
The smoke and ashes and flames
Because it might just be you
That I'm trying to save
Or the ones that you love
From that fiery grave

So please don't forget me
Remember my name
The man that I was
And the price that I paid

For chasing the smoke down
And fighting the flames
Was the battle I loved
And I do it all again

Chorus

So I put on the armor
To battle the devils flames
Into the Fire
I Ran

Thank you. I was a fireman for 42 years in Hillsborough County Florida. I was assigned to a tactical rescue team. We responded to a below grade rescue where a man was in a twenty foot deep excavation. When I repelled down to him all that was above the water was his nose. Three hours later we flew him to the hospital. he was treated and that night he was released with no major injuries. I retired with a full disability in 2016 with eight bad disks and two bad shoulders. And many emotional scares. I thank you more than you can imagine. Its these kind of tributes that help with our healing. We go in when they run out. Captain Ron God Bless

Every time I hear this, my eyes well up in tears. This is such a beautiful song. The video with the silhouettes is phenomenal.
It brings back memories, but I must remember live the best life for the ones who perished. They don't have the chance to see tomorrow, but I can. I love them n miss them every day.

This song reminds me of their heroism, when in fact, when they became FDNY, NYPD, EMS, etc, they didn't do it for the glory n fame. They did it, so others lived n were protected.
Thank you so much for this song and for serving our great nation. God gave you a gift to sing n song write. Amen 🇺🇲🇺🇲

Another great song and video, Dave. Thanks for keeping awareness of what firefighters face every day. Especially those who sacrificed their lives during the 9/11 tragedy.

Into the fire is riveting and extraordinary! I had to catch my breath after listening to and watching this incredible patriot belting out yet another incredible tribute! On behalf of Gear Up Foundation and all those we have served for nearly 17 years as a loving tribute to all those who perished answering the call on 9/11 and all those who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice as they race into the fire....THANKS and God Bless!

Incredible tribute to all of the firefighters that risk their lives everyday. This song reminds me of my good friend, Gary Cote who was a firefighter for the Dayville Fire Department but lost his life due to Covid on January 18, 2021. He always had a smile on his face and was proud to be a firefighter. RIP Gary. I had to actually rely on the rescue squad from the Jordan Fire Department in Waterford, CT and Waterford Ambulance Service also in Waterford, CT on Thursday July 6, 2023 while I was attending Camp Harkness in Waterford, CT after collapsing in the shade on the way back down from the mansion and not responding to the camp counselor, Jack that was walking with me. He had to call for the camp nurse, Stephanie to come and check me out on the walkie talkie that he had. She came along with another counselor, Evelyn to check me out and find out what happened. She took my vital signs and then asked me to squeeze her hand then I shook my head yes when she asked if anything hurts and pointed to my head. Evelyn called 911 when I didn’t respond to taking deep breaths, cold compresses and taking sips of Gatorade. The ambulance crew was good with me because MJ who was taking care of me in the back of the ambulance asked me if I wanted something to hold and I said something soft so she gave me a pillow case to hold onto and I got to keep it. I was suffering from heat exhaustion but I was able to go back to camp after getting IV fluids and something for my headache. I’m thankful for the nurse Stephanie and the counselors, Evelyn and Jack for helping me and the way they handled the situation. I wrote a thank you note to Waterford Ambulance Service and the Jordan Fire Department after camp was over for helping me.
