Ask your vet who owns it and how is he compensated. A vet friend worked at a clinic that sold and was fired. He would not work on commission--the more he could upsell, the bigger his check. He felt it was unethical. He’s filling in at Emergency Clinics until he can find an honest clinic.

One thing I believe you did not highlight is the lack of regulations. There is no cap on what to charge for a visit or procedure

So, my issue with this…. Is if they own all the food companies and the clinics…. They aren’t actually motivated for healthy pets. Food that slowly makes them very ill (esp over time) even more profitable for them.

the cost of a vet has made it impossible to have a dog or cat. my cats used to cost ~$300 per visit. yeah, $300. that was for getting a simple thing like spaying or teeth cleaning. now teeth are up around $1000 and spaying $500. this makes it impossible to manage feral populations of animals with basic needs. another price gouge is flea control. the medicine (revolution)that works is not sold over the counter and requires you make an appointment to get it. the vets will not write a prescription so you can easily order it from chewy, they want to sell it at profit and charge you an office visit at the same time. we should be writing our congress reps to get all this changed. btw, my dentist charged me only $250 to pull my 2 back teeth and said bring the cat to him!

money and greed. That's all you had to say. Can't say I'm surprised.

Vet here...
The facts from the inside
- 9 of 10 vet clinics are profitable
- by 2030 there will be 75MM more pets in the US

I was just offered 150K signing bonus to go to a clinic where I would likely make 10x that for the clinic. It was a 3 year contract. So over the course of those three years they would pay me ~ 21% of 4.5MM.
The staff gets at most 18% of that number
They buy us up because a vet like me makes them millions.

That makes sense why vets are so investable, but I feel like you dropped the point of the video as to why candy companies specifically want to invest in vets. Is it because the candy industry isn't recession proof, doesnt have a good growth track, etc?

So, the point might be to avoid the corporate vets? Where is that in this video?

Very informative video. The comedy is a tad cringy and forced. Tone it down and you have a winner!
