When a meteor shower appears, some people say it's the shooting stars, but those streaks of light that race across the sky are tiny bits of rock from space.

i don't know why people overrate the perseids so much, i dont know about how strong are leonids but the most spectacular are sure geminids because:
1. They occur very close to winter solstice meaning the night is super long to watch them you dont even nees to stay up late just go watching around 6 PM or if you go to work early at 5 or 6 AM you can still watch it
2. 80-110 meteors per hour! (not very sure if the numbers are correct sources vary, while perseids have from 50 to 80 (but they tend to have many fireballs which is the only time i saw a huge yellow white fireball thanks to the perseids.)
3. Even though it is cold outside getting used to cold is not hard especially when you can pack yourself with warm thick clothing and a hot tea. BONUS! NO ANNOYING MOSQUITOS! (and ticks when you want to go to the plains to avoid light pollution)
4. The radiant is in the constellation gemini where at this date is almost at it's opposition with the sun meaning during the whole astronomic night it is always above horizon and most of the time very high up in the sky however for perzeus for more southern north hemishpere observers they need to wait for it to rise up and this means more sleep deprivation.
5. Simply christmas chills and vibes, the date where you get hyped on and getting forward for the christmas is one of the best seasonal fellings you can ever have and it makes you feel like the geminids are as an early present from the sky.
