I live in New York. Every winter Flin Flon makes its way onto the northern most part of our abc affiliate’s weather map. And I look for it every morning.

Lived there when my dad was commanding the local RCAF station in 1965-1966.

I couldn't believe this was about Flin Flon, I was certain it was but it somehow felt like that made no sense. So i looked up NFB submarine n sure enough! Oh man when i was a kid back in like 89 i was enamored with that submarine. So glad to have found it again lol

What they don't tell you: Flin (as he's called in the book) left the "glittering land" because it was run by women.

Interesting. In America we have a state, California, which got its name from a fantasy book. Published in 1510, it told of a mythical island called California, and the Spanish explorers thought that they had found it when the arrived at what is now called Baja California.
