Gee, it's almost like Christianity spent a few centuries crusading around, converting people whether they wanted it or not. And then those people's children were raised with that religion.

Humanity as a whole is driven by fear. The organization that can drum up the most fear can influence and benefit from that fear the most. A train wreck or a plane crash will always garner a lot of attention such as the front page of a newspaper or the backing up of traffic on a freeway. Doesn't mean it's a good thing

That tells you it’s much easier to just believe your ancestors instead of questioning things. Most people believe out of just pure laziness not knowledge.

If every child in the world was taught that Santa is real and if they don't believe in Santa he has a special torture chamber at the north pole, a frozen hell where he'll punish them for all enternity we would have a couple of billion Santaists. Especially if the promise was that if you believed in Santa you would spend enternity in X-mas morning heaven opening gifts, eating good food and playing with toys all day!

It wasn't all that long ago that the _vast_ majority of people were polytheistic. Something tells me the caller would be completely capable of pointing out how that isn't a rational argument for polytheism, but would then _mysteriously_ lose that ability as soon as the target changes...

The earth is the center of the universe use to be what everyone believed, our galaxy is the entire universe use to be what everyone believed. Things change

A majority of the human population at one point believed the earth was flat and we were the center of the universe. Just because something is popular doesn’t make it any more true or false. His argument is the most unscientific stance u could possibly take, which is not surprising.

It's funny because Martin Luther, the founder of Protestanism, was asked by the church council who was telling him to recant if Luther thinks that he is right and that the church has been wrong for hundreds of years.

Sometimes, new info comes to light that can challenge the status quo. Many people thought women shouldn't vote or that having slaves was normal.

When undisputed evidence of a god is provided, i will become a believer. Until then, ill be perfectly content not believing in all the gods man has ever claimed existed and religious people continue believing in one more than i do.
