When you swing the golf club properly it's amazing what it can do and how easy it is to use. All great players like, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Champ, Rory McIlroy, Joaquín Niemann and Tommy Fleetwood are not swinging toward the target. Every good player has learned that the most effective way to make the ball go toward the target is to swing 90º right of the target. This is how the club is designed to be used. When you swing the club properly it's amazing what it can do and how easy it is to use.

Golf should not be a struggle. Golf should not be hard. Golf is easy if you know the secret. Start playing golf well. Gain confidence and have more fun playing golf.

"We don't swing the club in the direction of the ball flight" OHG. I could not agree more thanks to your excellent explanation and the real life benefits that one can realize if you accept this reality. Question. In putting and chipping are we swinging in the direction of the intended ball flight?

great stuff...I ran into your channel yesterday. I am 59, took up golf at 45. I am down to a 7 handicap, short game and putting are decent...ball striking often not consistent. I was an excellent hockey player, played tennis and baseball...all came easy. Not am self-taught, never taken a lesson....by watching 5 of your videos, I have now a much better understand of the golf swing, tried hitting balls in my backyard/ net this afternoon (courses not yet open in Canada)....feels great....THANK YOU!

You explained face control for me just now. I always came to impact with an open face because my direction is too out in front.

Very interesting...most stick and ball sports youre hitting the ball with the actual stick that youre swinging...but youre not doing that in golf...youre swinging an object (the club face) on the end of the stick...if you could pick the club face up and hit it attached to your hand, then no problem...its probably why turning your club face so the toe faces the target and the face point you (essentially making the whole golf club like an axe) is exponentially easier to make an on-plane swing...this is a really good video

Thanks for answering. Actually not a test. When I asked the question I was thinking about how a putt is struck with initial direction of force directly at the back of the ball because that is the most efficient way to execute that stroke. Your brain will naturally help you make this choice and your conscience easily agrees. Practice and refinement of technique potentially become productive. The full swing it is a lot more complicated. I wonder if in the full swing, our instinct is so strong to focus on that two feet at the bottom of the arc (the putt impact zone) that we can disregard the fact that a direct route is not the most efficient way to achieve this. It is very complicated to imagine how swinging 90 degrees to the target line will deliver the club squarely to the ball. In the Perception is Everything video (which is one of my favorite as it unlocks so much) you explain that the right arm goes from a Lever to an Axis to a Lever. Mechanically, this explains why you wouldn't want to swing any other way. The mere thought of the indirect route creates a resistance that the brain and or conscience will not allow. Unless there is a disruption there can not be a change. Your videos give the blueprint to change. I think we also need to be willing to be disrupted and even fail during the process in order to change. It might take some time for your brain to adjust, accept, let go and replace with a new pattern. That is what I was thinking when I asked which proves my brain took the most direct route in asking the question but possibly not the correct route.

Again this makes way to much sense! I played with a Pro tonight at a scramble! He swung like you explained. I swung at the green. He was effortless, I was tense.

I found that starting the swing in the correct direction makes all of the other parts of the swing fall into place (with work and practice). Seems that if you do this step One correctly the next steps begin to make sense. Hanging with it gets you to a pot of gold. Mr. Overhand is a genius!

Gonna have to get me an overhand golf shirt here soon. I saw the link there. I plugged you on the latest athletic motion YouTube video that was released today so hopefully some folks will check your channel out from there.

My friend was at his local course's driving range once and saw a group lesson about to start. He said the instructor walked up to the students and looked at their clubs. He walked up to the guy who appeared to have the crappiest clubs and asked "can I borrow your 5 iron?" he takes the iron, walks up to the practice tee, drops a ball and proceeds to crush it straight down the range. He turns to the group and said "it's not the clubs"
