You'd think something based off Ode to Joy wouldn't be this fucking menacing.

"The position of Prussia in Germany will not be determined by its liberalism but by its power ... Prussia must concentrate its strength and hold it for the favorable moment, which has already come and gone several times. Since the treaties of Vienna, our frontiers have been ill-designed for a healthy body politic. Not through speeches and majority decisions will the great questions of the day be decided - that was the great mistake of 1848 and 1849 - but by iron and blood."

– German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck at the conclusion of a speech he gave in 1862 about the unification of the German territories (The famous "Blood and Iron" speech)

*20 turns into a game in marathon mode
Bismark: "Hey, wanna go destroy the Inca?"

First off, why? And second, I have 1 soldier. You have MAYBE 2. Best case scenario all 3 of us will lose our armies.
But of course I will, I need you to like me.

To the people saying "but Hitler was Austrian", with the same logic Bismarck was Prussian. Both were from a formerly independent ethnically German population which became a part of the German homeland under their leadership. Being considered "German" used to be about more than just being born within "Germany".

To me, this is the war theme of the General Staff. This is the theme for meticulously planned warfare on a mass scale. I can see Moltke himself knowingly nod as he overlooks a map with troop movements and timetables laid out to the minute, he knows once the wheels are in motion nothing than stop the Prussian advance....

I swear Bismarck just took a hotdog-shaped piece of clay, molded it into an arch, painted it white and stapled it to his upper lip.
Backstabber.

The music in this game is actually one of the main reasons i keep playing the game, it can turn moments that are merely mundane into epic triumphs

How to unite Germany:

1. Curbstomp a small neighbor who has competing claims (Denmark, 1864).
2. Curbstomp your main rival and make it your subordinate (Austria, 1866).
3. Curbstomp the second-most prestigious Great Power in Europe (France, 1870).
4. PROFIT!

Ah yes, Bismarck, he was ambitious, but his downfall marked the beginning of the end for Imperial Germany. His diplomacy was keeping Germany in check - much to the dismay of England, France and Russia - but his forced resignation from office meant that Wilhelm II took near full control.

Some generals and leaders have 20 medals on their chest to display their accomplishments. Bismarck? He only gets one.
