Rumor has it, that Stacey’s mom is Jenny and she used to be Jessi’s girl . Lol

Well, this went right over your heads. It was Jenny's ex-boyfriend's revenge; he wrote her name, number, and "for a good time call:" on the men's restroom wall. Then some random guy sees it and fantasizes about her. The last lyric is, "For the price of a dime I can always turn to you", meaning he's leaving the restroom to go call her from a pay phone.

When you think there’s no way you can memorize complex material, just think that after decades you can still remember 867-5309.

This song is so funny. It reminds me of when I met my future wife Greta at a local beach in 1980. We were in the water talking and she gave me her number after I asked. So I got back on the beach and I had nothing to write it down with. So I had to write it onto the wet sand and asked some lady sitting nearby to make sure no one walked over it while I scrambled to get a pen and paper from the snack bar! Here we are now after 34 years of marriage all because of that moment! <3

ICONIC!!!

All of us from this era have never forgotten “Jenny’s Number”
From the bathroom wall

In the video, the girl they got has the most angelic hair, ever!
Anyways, don’t have to tell ya how many kids dialed that! 😁😂😂😂✌️

This has always been a fun song to hear on the radio back in the day. And yes, it was so different back then, you had to ask for a number and call the house phone and hope you didn't get a parent.

Another example of pop song writing genius. Everything about this song is one big hook.

When this song came out this was the phone number of Southwest Junior High in Gastonia, NC where I lived at the time. They had to change their phone number because of this song. It was on all the local channels and newspapers

Easily one of the biggest one hit wonders of the 80's. Huge MTV hit!
This song came out in the early 80's.

This song is literally the reason why movies, shows, and songs use “555” in them. LOTS people called the number when this song came out.

This issue happened again recently to an elderly person in Korea thanks to the new show Squid Games.

Then there’s the people who do it purposely like Mike Jones!!

Try "She's A Beauty" by the Tubes.

And for the next few years, 867 5309 became the most called number in the entire United States. 😄😄
Many actually had to change their phone numbers because "strange people keep calling my number asking for Jenny".

This is definitely the original version. I wish crushed as a kid I won an autographed album on the radio and went to pick it up at the station and it was not there, had to settle for some t-shirts. I saw Tommy Tutone, Scandal with Patty Smyth, John Waite and The Romantics a couple of years ago they all still sounded amazing. You are spot-on about how difficult it was to call a girl's house back in the day 😁

"Jenny" was a chick's name and phone number on the Men's Bathroom wall. It says so in the lyrics of the song.

Another great, catchy song from the same time was "Goodbye to You" by Scandal.

Same kind of fun, catchy 80s vibe

It was a massive hit in 1982, everyone loved to dance to it, and it is the one phone number EVERYONE still remembers!

This song came out in 1981 and was very popular on the radio. No cell phones, no internet, no social media and life was simpler and more fun. People interacted with each other in person instead of electronically. A better life and better times for sure!

...And little did they know that their old life was over, and this song would never leave their brain alone again

A great song to go along with this one "She's a Beauty" by The Tubes!

One of the greatest one hit wonders of the 1980's. This song is just about on every 1980's complication CD ever made.
