I think the argument remains that the hardware is soo good that people would prefer to use/carry an iPad over a Mac but ultimately can’t because iPad OS is lacking a full desktop experience. That’s all iPad OS needs.

i feel like you were the only guy that actually tried to use it, you point out some obvious flaws that i've never heard before. great review

I’ll always have a Mac in my life, but I find myself using the iPad more and more. Great everyday carry in my corporate sales job.

I have to comment on the quality of this (and all) video(s). The background music, ultra crispy video quality, your voice and presentation are second to none. It actually relaxed me while watching it. Phenomenal production value. Keep up the great work. As for the iPad, I had a 2017 10.5" iPad Pro. But I honestly can't say I use it any differently than I did the 2017 model. I don't regret getting the 11" M4, but WWDC can't get here soon enough. iPadOS really needs more features that will take advantage of that M4 and justify the cost of it. (OLED sold me). 😀

Because of the Stage Manager you are not able to go Full Screen. Switch it off and it will work Full Screen

I am a professional Full Stack Developer. I do all of my heavy lifting (in terms of programming on my Macbook Air M3 - 2024 model). But I have a huge use case for my iPAD, I do a lot of productivity tasks (Teams, Data Science - Pythonista/Juno Jupyter notebooks, termius etc..), I am actually a super iPAD user. So much that I bought both the iPAD Pro M4 and the new iPAD Air M2 as a backup when I travel out of the country. I spent years trying to do what you mentioned (make it my go to for everything). As a developer it has some very good clean apps that are very productive. I have managed to find about 27 different apps that I use on my iPAD for different use cases. So from a more versatile use case standpoint, iPAD wins. But for Developing Full Stack Apps.. no. - Great review by the way

I love my iPad Air m1, fast and very efficient! I worked 32 years behind a desk with laptop computers that I really enjoy doing 95% of my work on my iPad. I can sit or recline with my iPad and use Excel to do all of my financial calculations. I do now to my MacBook Pro m1 for tax reporting but that’s it. iPad is much more versatile and portable than my MacBook Pro. iPad gives me this flexibility with the beautiful screen as well.

For me I’m using the iPad mainly for college its an absolute game changer as you can get rid of all the notebooks for all the different subjects and just have one central machine that has every word, note, highlight you ever put for the period of time you are studying, it just saves time and makes me way more productive.

Your review and SnazzyLabs reviews are S tier. Not just reading a dumb spec sheet. Well done brother.

Good review, think you got it spot on. It's not supposed to be laptop replacement and I have given up trying to make it one.

Apple adding something as simple as a full fledged file system in iPadOS would by itself make it leaps and bounds more useable as a productivity machine.

I converted long ago to doing like 80% of my day to day on the iPad prior to the iPad M4. It takes time to train your brain to the odd stuff when you move away from desktop/laptop. I write code and more with my machines and I have enjoyed the footprint size and touch screen but I sometimes miss my 30 inch screen. Could it be better "yes" but I blame software more than HW. As for keyboard you have options you dont need to use the apple one.

I think all the youtubers who are reviewing the ipads, review it from their use case of a content creator machine. This kind of creates a bias and undermines the other great use cases that an ipad really offers. I believe its an amazing device and can easily replace notes taking and reading books and studying.

It’s not a MacBook replacement for people already engrained in using the MacBook but it is a replacement for the younger generation that have never used the MacBook, like my 10 year old daughter who does everything on it with ease including editing videos.

iPad is not designed as a replacement or competitor to the Mac. It is designed to complement it. Final Cut and Logic Pro being available as subscription-only with no option for purchase on iPad reinforces this.

Man I just want to say you make the best apple content, very innovative in the way you breakdown your videos, congrats on your success!!

I hate the argument that the iPad is a niche device. Ok… as a consumer there’s nothing wrong with demanding more from vendors that’s how the free market works. The most important thing is ensuring adding more macOS features won’t harm the iPad experience. But seriously, I can’t see how adding file management and Xcode would harm the iPad experience. If the MacBook dies, they will sell twice as many iPads. I’d by the 13 and 11 inch if they stop fucking around.

When connecting to a exsternal display it should transform the OS to Mac OS. That would be the best of both worlds!
Just like what Samsung does with DEX
