Bondurant is the real deal. The instructors are the famous racers you've never heard of. Everyone remembers Andrettis and Sennas but no one remembers the Scott Pruets. Scott ran between 15th-40th in every top pro racing series on Earth (Le Mans, F1, Indy, & NASCAR).

Very good movie. But, then, a Shelby 427 is my dream car. Built and raced a ‘66 Mustang with B&B, cammed up original HIPO 289, top loader 4 speed, 4:11 rear. As high school gear head. Started with solid body ‘66 with 6cyl, 3spd, stock rear end. Did the swap from a cancer-ridden ‘65 ragtop with good stuff. Older sister’s BF sold me the ragtop for $100 in ‘69. Fun with cars. Was not too expensive back then.
