Probably the best translator I've seen. If she was doing it live, then it's pretty impressive.

Would have absolutely adored seeing this in person. I love the Zero Escape series and Uchikoshi himself.

26:05 - what he fails to mention though, is that the codes to safes in quest parts of the game are randomized so you still have to play through all the quests. Which is somewhat unfortunate, because VLR has a save-corrupting bug that made me lose 26 hours of gameplay. I tries to quickly play through it skipping the dialogue, but quickly realizeed that you have to replay all the quest sections entirely. Curiously enough, this bug was fixed in NA version by disabling save in quests sections, but this patch was not applied to EU version (still). I had to finish the game by watching youtube videos. That was somewhat heart breaking.

Visual novel definition as said in this video is very vague, I could say Detroit become human is a western visual novel, you got the image & sound to describe a story, you got choices, sure you can move through space with the characters but having few qte is almost the same as pressing button to go to the next scene. So maybe the main factor that determine when a game is not a VN is the amount of narrative vs the amount of gameplay?

I simply thought that the player could guess the murderers name anytime, like sending a sms to the police or something

I remember listening to a lecture series, 23 hours on metaphysics. Pretty soon i realised i kept asking myself "yeah, but who the hell would care?" Or "i mean sure, but there's no possible world ahere this would be actionable, or possibly mean anything".
By the end of it, i realised metaphysics is where we put all of the philosophy that doesn't matter. As soon as it starts to possibly matter, it falls into another school of philosophy.

Listening to someone debate no one about if a visual novel counts as a game... It's a metaphysical experience.

I am so interested in this talk, but the voice chosen to interpret lacks any emotion. It's killing me😩
