I have to admit it sounds really sweet. Perfect for a small jazz gig in a pub, and cheap as chips.

I play through an old Peavey Studio red stripe amp when I practice with my funk band. When I went to college here in Milwaukee, the entire jazz guitar crew played through Peavey Special 130s. To this day, I really enjoy that solid state Peavey clean tone.

Love your playing!

Back in the day I would never dream of buying a Peavey. But I have come across so many Peavey amp videos. The main Peavey amp that many people rave about is the Bandit. I have seen so many of these vids and they all some amazing. Really great tone for rock, metal and blues. So at 60 years old I bought one, and my goodness this amp sounded awesome. I now own 3 Peavey amps. I have a Bandit Red Stripe, Studio Pro 60, and a Vypyr 75. They really are as good as people say. However, now you have to pay on average £120 rather than £50. Because they are so popular now the prices have gone up. But they are still worth every penny and more.

Yes, I have a 1972 Peavey Reno with a 15 inch speaker and a horn. I've had it rebuilt twice and still has a permanent place in our recording studio.
Thanks for your work !!

In the right hands, even a fifty dollar amp can sound like a million bucks!

We have those in most of the practice rooms at McGill and it’s been a game changer for me too you just can’t hide your tone and I just love it more now than my first exposures a while back

There was a 2x12 Peavey back in the 80's and whenever I did seminars for Sam Ash I would always request that amp. Had chorus and killer verb with VERY decent overdrive. Making me want another. Of course I had a peavey bandit but gave it to a student who didn't have much. Great vid!

I'm primarily an acoustic guitar player, have an IIbanez guitar and love it. However, I've been thinking about an electric guitar and though this video is about Peavey amps, I think your Ibanez electric guitar is beautiful! I also enjoyed your music and your comments on Peavey amps. I'll be looking further into your channel, thank you!

I have an 80’s Bandit blue stripe that is my go to practice amp. I love it! I used to have a Studio Pro 50 with a 15” speaker. It was one of a kind and I sold it never saw one again. I love tube amps but I think the old Peavey amps are a blast and have earned their place.

For many years a Backstage Plus was my main amp, mic'd with a 57 also; small and affordable, it was packed with features, with a classy sound and great reverb. I still have it - it now does test duties in my repair shop, but it's worthy of so much more.

Just saw the group Lynerd Synerd a few years back. They played with millions of dollars worth of vintage Gibson guitars but played though Peavey amps and sounded amazing. Last time visiting Berkeley John Mayer was playing in one of the small rooms playing on a little Peavy and sounded unbelievable! I owned a Peavey Bandit in the 80s did some small venues and never let me done. Guitar + Amp = Magic Cheers mate!

Peavey rage 1989 was my first amp. Still have it. My son uses it now!

Chet Atkins preferred a Peavy Bandit, so did Mick Goodrick. I used one for teaching years ago, and it sounded good.

Back in the 80s I was in a wedding band and used a Peavey Renoun. Two twelves, 160 watts and heavy as hell. I added casters and the Fender side bars to allow the amp to be tilted back. It had two channels, one with normal eq, the second channel had a parametric equalizer. The clean sound challenged any Fender Twin Reverb. It had what was claimed as a Saturation capability. But for overdrive/distortion I used pedals. I took a lot of abuse from amp snobs, “Why would you waste your dough on Peavey?” Things like that. I used that amp for ten years and it never let me down. After I stopped playing (couldn’t complete wit DJs pricing) gave the amp to my (then) teenage grandson, who is 26 now. He still has the amp and uses it along another amp with his current band. Thanks for indulging me, the word Peavey brings back a lot of sweet memories. Too bad they had to close the Meridian, MS facility. By the way, back then I used and still have an Ibanez AR 105 double cut solid body. If only I could play like you. Great video, you are an amazing musician.

Yes, I had a bandit 112 from 1998, great headroom and killer reverb!

There was a time when a Peavey Bandit was all the amp I could afford, but at a fraction of the cost of the equivalent tube amp, it really did the job, several gigs a week, and I agree, sometimes outward limitations lead to inner expansion. A few years later I was able to afford a Seymour Duncan Convertible, and that thing was alive, it just about breathed and walked around.

I loved my first generation Peavey Bandit 50 and Backstage 20. The Bandit handled everything I asked it to do and never needed over half volume. Used it over 8 years 7 nights a week. The Backstage was an excellent recording amp. I took the time to learn how they worked and how to get what I needed AND avoid what I didn't want.

I was playing through a couple of Peavey amps back in the late 70's. Both were "Vintage" models if memory serves, with a blonde tweed like tolex covering. One was a 2 x 12 combo, the other was a 4 x 10 combo. Great sounding tube amps. I went to check out a student's Peavey TransTube 1 x 12 combo yesterday which I was surprised with how decent it sounded, and quite versatile... especially for $150Cdn! Definitely fine for any club or cafe gig.

Yes I have a studio 40 also for $50 I love the concept of using something like this amp to force you to just play. Another amp I use is a DeanMarkley K50 same deal paid $65. I have also used and owned and have nice tube amps. Great video Ben!

Reminds me of when I had a Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 back in roughly 1990, simply amasing then and probably would be well regarded now, except they are seriously big and heavy. I played a custom Tele when I had it. After I sold it, I had a smaller Peavey 50 watt and a Laney Linebacker. Now I use a Roland Cube Street EX in my studio but am planning to replace it when I eventually decide upon a new Ibanez, either full or semi-hollow. The jury is out.

Thanks for all of your wonderful music and thoughts Ben. You have an inspiring mind behind some right up there musicianship. A real class act. Subscribed.
