Love the video, but can't get over the fact you used Wind Scene for the bg music :D

“As long as people like the game, who cares?” Is the right mood really. You can make it fit regardless, but if it comes at the cost of less enjoyment, not worth it

From a writer's perspective. As soon as you bring up time travel nothing the story does matters.

I honestly think that continuity is important ONLY to the games that are direct sequels to other games (Oot-MM, WW-PH-ST, Botw-ToK, etc.) I think the issue was almost forcing a timeline to barely tie ALL the games together. And I completely get making Skyward Sword the first game timeline wise to explain why Link and Zelda have been alive for thousands of years, but realistically after that, every other game can live in its OWN vacuum. And lets remember, this series started as : elf boy goes on a journey to save a princess.

I honestly feel like it's the opposite. Some fans will try to speculate where the new games could take place just for fun, but then there's the other fans who get all hissy about the timeline theories. I personally like seeing the discourse about it, seeing people bring the pieces together, it makes the franchise a bit more interesting. In the end, yeah, it doesn't really matter TOO much, but the devs should least make it make some sense if they do care or make the story make sense if it's standalone or direct sequel (TOTK is so vague)

Never saw any part of these games where the time line mattered at all. But every zelda game ive played has been extremely fun and the story descent. The only time id say time line matters is if one is a legit sequel that relys on the previous game for story line elements/puzzles.

Personally, I made my own timeline where the games release dates is the timeline, when ever something happens that makes a character not available they get replaced, reincarnated or if it’s set in where they got sent to it’s the same character, and when something doesn’t add up it’s just the universe taking a brake, but I also don’t care about timelines and yes it’s cool when something connects, but that just means this was before that and this is after that, and I’m not going to say that all you should be doing is having fun, because then I’d be a hypocrite but isn’t that just want living is all about, have a good night ❤

I found this RIGHT after a video saying we’re the game takes place

It doesn’t matter because each game has its one story and that’s all it needs.

Well… the problem is that Zelda games are not just games.

They are a form of storytelling. So storytelling needs consistency in order to work properly.

Honestly the only time I’ve seen people throw tantrums about the Zelda timeline is people who vehemently hate it

Yeah...i can agree, but it's still weird that Nintendo are so obsessed with the "IMAGINATIONNN"....it works, but i think they should put more and more references to certant timelines in the games to make it placable on the timeline for the people still obsessed with the timeline, and not just to alienate the fans who DO CARE ABOUT THE TIMELINE

I like the timeline, I think it’s interesting. But I think if it limits their creativity it’s not really worth it

Zelda lore is and has always been messy. That's why its fun. Of course some people are going to go too ham with it, but I think its a stretch to say it doesn't matter because the devs don't obsess over it. Its been a part of the community discussions for over 30 years. It's important because we've given it meaning through all the fun (and silly arguing) over the years. As someone else said, the most vitriol I've ever seen came from people who hated any timeline discussions. I'll continue to enjoy acting as a Hyrulean anthropologist hahaha.

My god, the new game’s announcement wasn’t even 24hrs old when people were already frothing at the mouth over the timeline placement. I’m so over the whole timeline thing, it’s clear Nintendo is too.

Much like how an infant doesn't care for the Telitubbies lore. Life is about simple toys and blocks

Fr though

Another Nintendo game there is no timeline for pokemon and look at that it’s a little worse so maybe just a small timeline is nice

I believe when you remove the continuity between games then Zelda becomes no more interesting than Mario. I think it’s a shame that the franchise isn’t going in the direction I’d want it to, but there are plenty other works of fiction with amazing worlds and thought provoking stories, Zelda doesn’t have to be one of them.
