What if there were a different way, not used before? (Hint: we called that “unforking from Postgres.”) How do you integrate with all the pieces that make a database work—the ecosystem of people, community, tooling, expertise?  What is the role of open source? The cloud? How do you set yourself apart? Why build a database in the first place?

These are some of the questions Umur and his startup co-founders faced when creating Citus and adding the superpowers of distributed tables to PostgreSQL.
