Mastering With LEVELS

This video walks you through the features of the mixing and metering plugin 'LEVELS' created by Mastering The Mix.

WHY WE CREATED LEVELS

At Mastering The Mix, producers were constantly sending me mixes with the same reoccurring technical issues. I was repeating myself during phone conversations with new and existing clients about how to get a technically excellent final mix. This information isn't some kind of secret sauce that I only give to my paying customers. It’s a simple yet crucial checklist that many people overlook in the final stages of their mix. The majority of these people weren’t using metering plugins because they are difficult to understand and can smother creativity. It seemed to me there was a vacuum in the market for a producer friendly plugin that had all the tools to get a great final mix and master.

Software developer 29 Palms joined Mastering The Mix and we developed our concept for a revolutionary metering plugin that would be incredibly easy to read and understand. The visuals on LEVELS are engaging and informative without being intimidating. The plugin will only draw your attention to elements that need fixing, which makes the user experience completely unique. Our goal was to make assessing technical information as painless and enjoyable as possible.

A piece of software will never replace an audio engineer as a great pair of ears are irreplaceable. LEVELS will empower producers and songwriters of all standards to accurately assess the technical details of their mix, helping them to make more informed mixing decisions. Finally, an effective, efficient, intuitive, engaging, and accurate metering plugin!

I purchased this yesterday to replace the Waves WLM plus loudness meter & make Levels my go-to loudness meter.

Thanks for this very useful video! Please add 'Bass space' details as well. I guess when it goes red, it means you need to turn down the low frequencies.

So many edm tracks are overcompressed, so I think the dynamic range shouldn't be something to be scared of hitting red.

I downloaded Expose but came across this and found this seem to be better as you can see the levels and work on in visual rather than static, I found this Tutorial very helpful and im going to buy the full version, I certainly learnt alot and found this tutorial very helpful, Thanks keep up the great work

Excellent as always! Just one question. In the average loudness range table, you made separate rows for EDM, House and Electronic. Would Martin Garrix and Fisher be good examples for EDM and House? Also, what would be a good example for Electronic?

Has there been an update as of late? I feel like this version has more features than the version I have been using. Such a well thought out plugin. I sold several of my friends on how good it is as a metering plugin and they love it too!

Should have parameters (buttons) that allows us to fix these problems within the plugin. Almost perfect...

Amazing plugin. Anyone knows a correct LUFS metering for mastering a tracks that it is going to vinyl? I was thinking about 10 or 11. Or the standar 14 for digital platforms should be ok?

Can I use the plugin at the end of my mastering chain to analyse the four meter readers (peak, bass space etc) or does this need to be done before mastering chain? Also I'm assuming it is OK to use within my session on the stereo out...?

Best regards

Thanks for the helpful video! I am trying out Levels, but I am mixing/mastering very dynamic music, and I just can't get it to sit at -14 LUFS. The quiet parts are too quiet, but if I make it any louder, I have too many peaks. Do you have any advice?

I love this plugin. But the Lra for me is a thing I didn't get right....on my tracks this value decreases always during the track.

Tom, on your Levels global screen we have 8 bands responding to the input to Levels. What frequency bands do they cover? Thanks.
