Συγκεκριμένα ο Μάνφρεντ Βέμπερ έγραψε τα εξής στο twitter:
«Δεν πάει άλλο. Χρειαζόμαστε δράση, όχι άλλα λόγια κατά του Ερντογάν και των αμέτρητων προκλήσεων του.
Δεν πρόκειται για ελληνικό, κυπριακό ή γαλλικό ζήτημα, αλλά για ευρωπαϊκό.
Οι ηγέτες της ΕΕ πρέπει να επιβάλουν κυρώσεις στην Τουρκία.
Ας χρησιμοποιήσουμε την οικονομική δύναμη της ΕΕ για να το πράξουμε»

"Enough is enough. We need action, no more words against Erdogan and his countless provocations. This is not a Greek, Cypriot or a French issue, it is a European one. EU leaders should sanction Turkey. Let's use the EU's economic power to do so."
