During the worst of the GPU shortages, a lot of issues were being caused by people buying hundreds, thousands, or even more graphics cards to mine a crypto currency called ethereum, which at the time was very profitable to do.

In fact at one point an RTX 3070 could make over $15 a day, but fast forward to today where the price of Ethereum recently dropped below $1,500 and profits after tax and electricity have fallen to as low as 59 cents per day on that same 3070.

So with that in mind GPU demand from miners has fallen off a cliff and in fact you may see a flood of GPUs hit eBay very soon if this trend continues.

Don’t buy these used mining card, they are used intensely on high voltage for over a year or two. People bought it have a lot problems with them.

I hope this continues. Crypto miners are the biggest individual drains on society, the economy and environment, and those GPUs could be much better used by programmers, data centres and gamers.

I understand that a well looked after mining card is probably a good purchase, at the right price, but I will still resist buying from a miner unless they are willing to accept a massive loss on the card. My reasoning is that they have made a killing at the expense of the average gamer and should forget their greed for a minute and do the right thing by selling well below MSRP. Do miners have a conscience? Nah.
