Wow this is my first time ever hearing of San Juan Hill in my life. Just goes to show you how much history is hidden and untold. Because I definitely should of learned of this in school.

I use to live right across the street from San Juan Hill in Amsterdam houses back in the 1950s. I remember two of the kids who lived there. Their names was Rosetta and Leo. The good ole days!😊

it's important “to understand what's in the rear view mirror in order to propel us forward.” oh, how i wish everyone felt that way, especially considering current events surrounding education in fla and elsewhere. i'm so glad that this was in my home-feed today - i knew a bit about the settlements, but had never even heard of stillman house. what an important part of ny’s history!

When I was young, we lived in a railroad flat in Hell's Kitchen. All the families were evicted to make room for French Polyclinic. Later French Polyclinic was closed to build luxury housing.
