I love this song and it makes me proud to be a Canadian. I owned this album on vinyl when it came out. I bought the album for the song "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" but I listened to the whole album and particularly fell in love with song. I was 13 yrs. old in 1976 when I bought this album. "Summertime Dream"

A 100 years ago this was the B-side on a 45rpm I had. Even though I was way to young to "understand" the meaning of this song I played it over and over until others in the house made me stop. As I grew older I understood the meaning all to well. Its still my favorite Gord' song. RIP.

This is a breakup song from just a cold reading of the lyrics, but Gordon's voice infuses it with magnaminity and warmth. I don't know of another singer-songwriter who could do that.
