He was actually correct because if we do (numerator x 2) or 163 x 2 the answer will remain 326 and the denominator is also 326 and the simplest value is 1/2 so we can say that the answer is correct

The result is correct because when you multiply the digits ( 1 * 6 * 3) we will get 18 and when we multiply digits of denominator ( 3*2*6) we will get 36. So 18/36 = 1/2.
