One of the best plant videos I’ve ever seen. I’ve added the Summerfic Hardy Hibiscus series to my watch list.

This lady is wonderful, and I hope we’ll see her in more videos. She’s engaging and gives good information. Much better than self absorbed L @ GA.

Wasn't Hardy Hibiscus the mob boss played by James Cagney in "Roses for A Gangster?" "You dirty compost, you!"

I'm looking to purchase another hibiscus that was "accidentally" removed by my gardener. I can tell you this. I'm in Zone 5.The hibiscus grew to at least 7½-8 feet tall. It had green cannabis shaped leaves, and it featured beautiful plate sized dark red flowers. It was spectacular. My husband purchased this for me 2 summers before he died. I'm certain this was a Proven Winner sold about 14 years ago. Can someone please tell me what it is called?

Dear Proven Winners, According to this video, I have a tropical hibiscus in the "Beau Vis" style/shape. The official name when purchased was "pink ruffle". Its leaves are dark green and almost round in shape. I have several different types of hibiscus which grow at different speeds, but this one grows like a snail. It sprouted new leaves for spring over a month ago, and they have only grown about 1 cm--tiny! I have given it tons of TLC, lots of sun, fertilized it, added compost, mulch, you name it. I figure this growth rate must be normal for some species. Is that correct?
