I've prayed before my workouts before. My prayer was "Lord, this is YOUR body that YOU created. I pray for you to give me the strength to bring the best out of this body you've loaned to me and that your glory will emit from every rep that I do".

There are so few people talking about health and wellness in the Christian community. We write it off as vain too early. Caring for our bodies is largely a stewardship issue. God cares about our bodies, and we should care about our bodies

Bottom line is -- do both. Pursue Godliness and spiritual growth and pursue physical health and well being No need to just do one. Unless you are being lazy.

Today I prayed while training on Gymnastic Rings in my carport. Before every exercise, I would say a verse from the Bible that I liked and repeat it mentally while performing reps and it became a kind of mantra or focus for meditation on the Word.

"Blessed be the Lord my Strength who trains my hands for war and prepares my fingers for battle." Psalms 144:1

(Yes, I'm mixing translations. I find that wording is more poetic and emotionally engaging.)

I believe God wants warriors! Endurance pleases the Lord.

Wow, i didnt expect to even be able to find a video on this. I have felt let down by churches for overlooking the importance of physical fitness. Being physically fit allowed me to become more mentally and spiritually fit and grow closer to the Lord. If I'm out of shape, my spiritual health suffers heavily as well.

I love this. I come from a family of people who don’t take fitness seriously. And I always feel bad that my family doesn’t. I see the importance of working out and I want my kid to understand the importance of it. I can’t believe knowing what I know now, that as a teenager that I was missing out on so much that I could have been doing with my mom and the rest of my family. I’m glad I know the importance of it now and can show my son. It keeps you happy for the most part, obviously keeps your temple healthy, and you just feel good overall. I thank God for giving me the strength to work out.

If you've never gotten fat then you don't understand how important it is to be in good healthy shape! I was in good physical shape all my earlier life and i was weighing between 145-155 from middle school up till about 3 yrs afterwards when I started working a busy job, got married and had a son coming along plus my wife was an awesome cook. I wasn't able to keep active anymore and i used to play sports, skateboard, roller blade, mountain bike, and olay in a band so i blew up to 200 lbs for 4 yrs and i was miserable not because i wanted to look "good" but because the extra weight is physically draining and u comfortable, I lost 53 lbs and felt great for about 14 yrs and then I got careless and blew up again 😔. I've recently lost at least 20lbs and feel better but not where I should be and at 44 yrs old it's a lot harder because i can't run like i used to so the process is a lot slower 😭. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a "body worshipper" I just know what it's like to get fat then lose it and get fat again and believe me I would rather have not gotten fat!

This is such an amazing and much needed topic to talk about. If there was a book about this with people like both of you, it would be a game changed for us Christians trying to navigate this.

There are a couple verses people use to speak against fitness, but I believe they alone are not good arguments. The thing about the Bible and fitness is that people in the Bible WERE FIT. Abraham was a farmer, David was a soldier. They did not have air conditioning and they did not eat fast food. They were physically active every day and they ate healthy food.

VERY important to stay fit and healthy. We are not made to be fat slobs. Working out is like brushing your teeth. It HAS to be done. It's a priority and a responsibility. All you need is at least 30 min a day of excersice . If you're trying to burn fat, don't take 15 min walks and say you worked out. Go out there and sweat!!! Get your heart rate raised.

I've been so, so shamed by other moms in the church for working out daily. Sometimes I workout hard, but sometimes I just stretch. I walk, do HIIT about once a week, and do some weight circuits. However, I do it all at home, and NEVER post about it on social media. Since starting deliberately 3 years ago I've worn looser clothing to actively try to not grab attention. The more in shape I've gotten, the more I've tried to fade into the background.

Even so, I've been told I'm selfish and vain for doing so...or I was scolded once for not prioritizing my life because I shouldn't have the time to workout if I'm doing enough for the community.

It got in my head and I've felt guilty for the past year ('Maybe I should babysit or volunteer more with this extra 45 minutes a day? Maybe this is a stumbling block, maybe it is something I should set aside to not offend my brothers or sisters?')

I have been procrastinating my workout all morning. I actually sat down to just "phone out" and this is the first video on my page. Gods like, "girl go workout already!". Ok I'm listening Lord...going to workout now 😕

yea this was a very balanced video. i feel like God is saying thru these brothers that it’s about communion & community; communion in the sense that we glorify God by taking care of ourselves in a reasonable way as well we get to enjoy God and the goodness of the gifts & things He’s created and given to us. (joyful stewardship) it’s community in the sense that we get to fellowship and deepen our relationships with other believers through activities & shared hobbies, as well as strive to fulfill the great commission when we engage with unbelievers who share a similar interest; in hopes that the lost will hear the gospel and come to faith in Christ.

I love this ! And this is so true. When I eat clean, workout ect. I feel closer to GOD✨
I hear GOD more clearly, I'm more calm and at peace to receive GOD in more ways in one.
