The EU2017 Conference: Future Science -- Aug 17 - 20, Phoenix:

In this episode, we explore the causes of such mysterious sounds, which originate from the Earth/Sun electrical connection. Observers of the spectacular Northern Lights are offering new testimony on the amazing sounds produced from electromagnetic phenomena in Earth’s upper atmosphere. Witnesses in Sweden reported hearing sounds similar to so-called laser blasts from the Star Wars films.

This is a good explanation for why the Chinese astronaut heard knocking outside his space craft. It might have been just the sound of static electricity popping off the surface of his craft as it drifted through the current in space.

Thank you for another interesting video...most intriguing ...near here, the sounds are like an electric meadow blowing in the wind, most often when they are green and yellow, fairly fast moving, whip like, very distinct and overhead...the fan shapes and sunset tinges seem to sound like a high hat cymbal shivering in the distance...very beautiful and fascinating

I saw a green fireball once that exploded in the atmosphere. made a crack/electrical hissing sound. was very cool

I've heard that noise from high-tension power lines before. Always attributed it to the wires vibrating in the wind.

Sounds associated with auroral activity, meteors and even the Rosetta Spacecraft picked up sound from Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Wow! I guess we need to rethink the notion “In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream”. Apparently, they can.

Great video! Just imagine the applications of the electric force!

the audio of the aurora  sounds like someone gently blowing on a microphone

Peekskill...my hometown...that meteor is in the New York state museum in Albany...shows you a picture of the car it hit too... old red Chevy Nova  ...amazing what it did to the car being so small

I`v been wondering about this for some time and now I know there was something to this, thanks again thunderbolts.

I've heard the hissing of the aurora multiple times. Very strange

I once saw a big meteorite fall in South Carolina. The power lines crackled and hissed for almost a minute.

Whoa! I just listened to the audio link. I haven't hear that sound in a long time. I remember hearing that exact sound as a kid. I don't live near either pole. I'm in North Carolina, USA. It was a sound I heard occasionally. It always made me think of someone whipping a steel cable about or a wave oscillating between either end of a taught cable. I figured it was the wind vibrating the power lines near by. I would always look for where the sound was coming from, but could never pin-pointed the source of it. It was just in the air and it always sounded far away. Hmmm...

Pretty cool! The sound clip in the description sounds like putting your ear on a Slinky and springing it around :) So probably currents induced in the power lines by the aurora produce magnetic fields around the wires, causing them to attract/repel eachother and get swinging around.

Commonly known to Ham Radio Operators and Short Wave Radio listeners for decades. Established to be caused by plasma discharge... In essence, "So what else is new?".

Ive heard meteors a couple of times before....you hear a hiss....look up towards it and theres a fireball

Very nice that they are starting to admit there is a plasma sheath around the earth. Now would be a great time to zoom out and look for examples of additional plasma layers in 90 degree angles to the plasma sheath. This can be viewed by the strange flows going around the planet in a horizontal fashion like Jupiter's clouds flow. The clouds flow like that in response to the additional plasma layers flowing from the sun by the planet. The layers having double layers forming the shears in the cloud layers. This happens on earth as well. Distinct layers can be seen in "suspicious observers" post to you tube with the tell tale whirls being shown at the shear points. Jupiter has more layers that can be seen then Earth and this is due to the size of the planet bridging the plasma layers emitted from the Sun.
The sounds referenced in this video are merely a plasma speaker like operation. When comets or meteors are not present the sounds tend to come from other planets like Saturn and Jupiter to mention a few and act on matter lower in the atmosphere due to high density plasma in the upper layers. The plasma condenses as it looses charge and settles into a lower layer. Repeating the condensing or shedding of additional charge as it goes lower in the atmosphere.

I heard this phenomenon while in Banff Alberta.

Being on a cruse is ship in Alaska we were alerted to go out at 230 am and see the solar light from suns release, of energy !! Why was seen was like a tornado above the ship that had a clear eye in middle and clouds around it mad you feel you were going to be lifted up in space, , very strange, I did hold on to the rail as it truly was affecting your eyes and steady observation, we all saw the same thing ! Every once and a while you could see flash’s at different elevations but had no sound ! The wind was high I guess about 40 or more mph and was very cold ! But no sound then after about five minutes hit moved west still as a tornado but was slow to start like it was held by the core while planet rotated east, then when it started to move it was able to steadily move out of what looked like a hold it had over the giant cruise ship near Juno Alaska just off the coast were it came from !! It was amazing !!
