I did this and it did get the fabric off, but for me it definitely left a lot of glue and a very thin sheet of fabric still, so what I learned to get rid of all left over residue is use my varnish/ paint thinner and scrape off the remaining residue, it worked perfectly! It saved me from needing to buy drawer liners!

A heat gun (or hair dryer) is kinder to the wood. But that felt is in that drawer for keeping pieces that can get scratched from the wood. People but dividers in them and put their serving pieces.

I just replaced the cheap underneath board and added new felt. Looks beautiful

I used a hand steamer tool. Loosened the felt enough without really wetting the wood. took a bit of time.

Hot water and fabric softener!
Also works for wallpaper when you put it in a spray bottle and use a perforator

Years ago I laid letter-size felt sheets under an older large TV to supposedly "protect" a lovely bookcase shelf from scratching. Of course, now I find little bits of felt and residue stuck to the shelf simply from the weight/pressure of the heavy TV. Aaaggh! Any suggestions for this scenario that wouldn't damage the lovely surface? Thanks so much for such helpful videos.
