Looking at the pattern it would be better to use 2 charm packs. You'd have a lot less waste. Use one pack for the 4½" squares and the second pack for the strip and two squares. Or cut your layer cake in half and save for another project.

Thank you for creating a FREE beginner-friendly pattern where I will actually have some scraps from my pre-cut to play with later! I really like this quilt design, it looks more complicated than it is to make (I hope!). Gorgeous fabric choice here too. I think I'll make the background border smaller, and add a large outer border of one of the prints in the Layer Cake. (Although I have been buying fabric and tools for quilting since 2012 with dreams of making all kinds of quilts, I have only ever finished and bound 2 quilts ... and finished a few more quilt tops only; I still have the quilting to do on those.
