25 years ago in mid 1999, my good friend Miguel lent me his Dookie CD. Back then I only knew Basket Case and When I come around from the radio years prior. Once I gave that CD a spin, I was blown away by all the great songs. This one remains one of my favs.

Lost my CD to a neglectful friend, I bought a pre-owned one yesterday. Honestly, it has been at least fifteen years since I last listened to Dookie and forgot how awesome it was.
It was an all-round Rock favourite back then, but good music never gets outgrown, then no wonder why it sounds so fresh and new now. beautiful melodies, highly energetic musicianship, it sweetened punk with incredible melodies and backing vocals, but crazy thing is, it was rythmically explosive.
The bridge for Having a blast is incredible, so simple and explosive, the way they resume after the fill is otherwordly, and that is just a pinch.

Thanks Green Day!! This is beyond wicked awesome.. in ‘98 my buddy and I had a forestry job doing herbaceous brushing in 100 Mile House, BC and we bought DOOKIE on cassette tape at a gas station and listened to it on repeat in my buddy’s LADA that we used to get out to the bush ‘n back everyday for that whole contract … LONG LIVE DOOKIE!!
