Practice This DAILY For Lightning FAST Fingers!!

It’s time to turn your guitar practice up a few notches! That’s what’s about to happen for you today.

In this lesson we’re going to cover one of those guitar exercises that also doubles up as a killer lick. A SHRED lick, to be specific! Man, I love it when things work out that way.

This guitar practice exercise could very well be your first introduction to shred lickery, and I’m more than okay with that ;)

The benefits of guitar exercises like this are many, but the main focus is to get your fretting hand used to playing different orders of your fingers across the fretboard using a 3-note-per-string approach. This will build the muscle memory necessary for faster hands.

We’ll also take the opportunity to use this guitar practice exercise for our picking hand as well. This is one of those guitar exercises that can smoothly get you started with the economy picking technique.

So all in all, you’re getting a guitar practice exercise that will make your fretting hand faster, your picking hand faster, and also happens to work well as a shred guitar lick once you start building up speed! That’s MY kinda epic guitar practice!

👆 That cheat sheet is a game changer, no matter what level you’re at in guitar. When life sometimes gets in the way of practicing the guitar that we love, you never have to sacrifice your progress.

All you need is a simple guideline on how to use what little time you have to achieve MAXIMUM results, and this cheat sheet will give you that!

I’m so excited for this type of guitar practice to get your hands going blazing fast on that fretboard. All that is left for you is to have fun while you’re working at it! :)

There’s really more to this exercise than meets the eye: first, not only it helps speed up your fretting hand but also it builds coordination between your fretting and picking hands. Second, if you could replicate the same exercise pattern on the same natural notes on the D & G strings as well as on the E & A strings over time you have memorized also, albeit unconsciously, all the natural notes on the fretboard, which is equally important with, if not more important than, building up speed. This is EPIC. Great thanks!

It definitely stretches the fingers and has helped greatly with pinky independence and function, thanks!

My son is a sound engineer for Sweetwater Sound and is going to be helping me along as I'm newbie to guitar at 53, but I think I may include your videos into my lessons as well.

My fingers are WAY too small to do the 1st to 5th fret stuff w/o discomfort. But this is still a nice way of looking at the fretboard and getting something into the routine. I hate most youtube "instruction" vids because they are just clickbait most of the time. This is nice and clear.

Thanks for sharing. Been working on this the past hour. I have a terrible memory, but it's neat to see when muscle memory kicks in and I don't even think about it any more. Thank you!

I’ve played guitar for some years but am looking to get better with fast notes on the electric guitar. This really broke down the left and right hand! Thank you!

Eddie, many thanks and much respect for posting this exercise.

Using this exercise is sheer magic! It's allowed me to unlock certain parts of my brain that have in turned allowed my ears and fingers to "find" notes on the fretboard of songs and solos that I've been trying to master for years.

This exercise is incredible! It's like a key to mastering the fretboard. Thank you!

That 1-3-5 is a pretty big stretch for me. I’ll persevere though. Thanks. 👍
