Kinda cool if they brought in the Crysis story line into this. Creating a nano suite out of their tech and fighting them. and actually using the nano suite to insert a virus as well.

For those who don't know, Will Smith decided not to be in the movie. Initially he was invited to join the cast along with everyone else and the movie was going to largely be about him, his son, and his wife as well as the other veterans of the "War of 1996" as the Independence Day universe calls the events of the last film. Apparently after After Earth, it seems Smith got a little skittish and decided not to do ID2 anymore. Thus the producers wrote his character out of the movie by killing off Steven Hiller during a test flight of hybridized alien technology.
