4x4 SUVs for 45k euro (ENG) - Marek Drives

There seems to be more compact SUVs with AWD for up to 45 thousand euro, than there are any compact SUVs for up to 35k thousand. What’s on the menu? And what do I recommend?

All prices listed in this episode come from the carmakers' websites in Germany and are accurate at the time of recording, which is late April 2023. If you find any of these cars interesting, I suggest you look at dealer stocks, because maybe there’s a deal hiding there somewhere.

I’m choosing one car from each brand, which in my opinion is the best deal for up to 45k euro. Having a choice between a smaller, but better equipped car, and a larger vehicle, I’m choosing the former. If I don’t mention a car, it’s either too expensive on the day of writing the script, or I don’t have a review of it on my channel. I prefer to talk about cars I experienced and filmed, rather than those that just it the bill.

If the only problem with the Duster is the comfort then you can take an extra 5k and have the interior upgraded at any shop that does soundproofing and seat conversions. Then you're still 10-15k ahead of the competition.

I really enjoy this kind of videos. Maybe do something for best cars with 4 cylinders with costs up to 30-35K EUR. Have a great day, Marek!

Most consumers in Europe and China don’t consider an SUV turning all four wheels, but the opposite is true in the US.
In H1 2022, only 23% of SUVs sold in China had some measure of 4WD. In Europe, in the same period, only 36% of such vehicles made up the total SUV volume.
The US is the exception to the rule (with 73% of SUVs sold in the states having either an old school four-wheel drive or a permanent all-wheel drive system).

45k is out of many peoples reach... car prices are out of touch with peoples salaries, I¨m not buying any more new cars. 3y 2nd hand cars with less than 70k km do well and are usually a bit cheaper (not as cheap as before)

From these, Honda, Mazda, Ssangyong, Skoda, Suzuki, Subaru, and Toyota are bulletproof choices. I own an S-Cross.

I'd be more concerned about the seats and carpets than dashboard plastics if my car had had a heard of hogs living in it for a month... it would take a fair few cans of air freshener to sort that out 😅

I like the Cupra but I’m with you, I love driving my countryman ALL4.

Agreed regarding the X2. When this car was launched by BMW in Australia they introduced a subscription model for Carplay which absolutely decimated sales, a policy decision that they have quickly wound back. It was also priced above the X1, which was much more practical and built on the same platform.
I quite like the looks of the current Sportage so that would be my choice. I also noticed that the European version appears to have a shorter body?

I think you can get Ford Kuga FHEV 4x4 2.5 in this price range with some discounts applied. Any idea when the new model will arrive in Europe?

9:25 wow, I was not aware this is the case. I have a 2022 Peugeot 208, and it does have Isofix on the passenger front seat as well as on the rear bench seat. And it is a small city car! Looks like Peugeot indeed offers a lot for the money

Got my Sportline Karoq 2.0 TSI 4x4 for 38k € in Poland. Though it was ordered at the end of 2022. What's up with prices in Germany?
And honestly, after watching this video, I still believe that my choice was the best 😄

Dear Marek, thank you for the review, but why haven't you mentioned Seat Ateca? Ateca Xperience or FR trim with 2.0 TDI, DSG-7, 4Drive costs about 36.000 EUR.
Best regards from Lithuania.

The CX-30 didn't really make it to either list (35k or 45k) because it was overshadowed by the price of the CX-5. What's your impression of the CX-30?

Was that the older CRV you tested? Have you driven the new one? I like the new design a lot more. Re: Mazda. Would the CX50 fit into that category? I think the CX50 has a sharper design than the CX5.
The Tiguan allspace is getting replaced??? OHHH spill the beans!!
Hyundai and Kia are super hot here. Probably because they've embraced hybrids and PHEVs.
