Owned one for 3 years! It was perfect for my long commute and trips across Europe. It was headturner for sure. I now have a Golf R Mk8 for my new job which has a much shorter commute but still miss my 6 series.

The doors have frameless glass. The 6 series gran coupe still has pillars. Usually pillarless refers to coupes which do not have a B-pillar (ref: 2nd generation Mercedes CLK)

So much better looking than the new trash they turn out nowadays at BMW, I guess they're hungry for younger buyers. Another very informative video with great views of the car and journey.

Drove a 640d convertible with a stage 2 remap 440bhp. It was absolutely incredible, instant power relentless torque and acceleration.

I bought used 640d gc last summer. Previous owner had put a M6 bodykit on it (original M-sport tho) with quad pipes and diffussors etc. and it looks truly menacing and beautiful. Also it has adjustable HR springs so it’s slightly lowered. Being x-drive it is really great during winter and I have an app where I can switch it to rwd whenever I want. Stage 2 (400bhp and 800nm) + stage 3 xhp transmission software. Really nice allrounder daily 😂 Really stands out from the crowd! My dream car :)

I have one of these, best car I've ever owned, by far. UK to Italy and back was like a trip to the local shops. Fantastic drive, incredibly comfortable, quick/fast and STILL returning 46mpg on average although only 10 mpg at 150+ on the autobahn. Its going to be very hard to top this.

Another great review. As a 2012 520 touring owner, you can see the similar switch gear on both vehicles. I love the 6 series but can’t get away from the 5 series touring practicality. Still nice though.

Never seen one of those, quite like it but, wouldnt fancy the repair cost! Looks so subtle, especially when compred to todays BMW's. Also note it had a tranny you didnt slate, got to be one of the few 😁

Very, very cool car! If i had the money to buy and actually be able to run one of these I'd choose a 5 series instead (I'd LOVE an M5 of literally any age!) though just for its greater practicality.

A nice looking and driving car from another German firm trying to capitalize on a reputation and expand to all sorts of price points, but at least not to extent of Mercedes-Benz. Even though this is not your personal vehicle, did you feel compelled to dispense with use of directional signals and general road courtesy whilst taking this out?

I took a 640d coupe for a test drive recently. I was a little surprised how firm it was. But given its going to replace an e46 m3, it was comparatively wafty 😂

The interior is beautiful and it looks very aerodynamic but the original 1980s BMW 6 Series 635 CSi is still a better looking car, never bettered actually.

Is it possible to fit three kids in the back of one of these. I know he said strictly two seater in the back but you can clearly see three seatbelts?

Great review as per usual but I just don’t understand these cars…. It’s the 4 door saloon version of the 2 door coupe version of the 4 door saloon version of the 5 series? 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Given we only got the auto here, it’d be a great car if your commute was long distance up and down the motorway with big parking spaces at work, like I did with my old job. The road even off the motorway was fairly wide and straight, so when it was clear I was rarely out of top in the Octavia I had at the time, and when traffic was heavy, I wished I had an auto because I’d get cramps in my clutch leg 😂

My commute is much shorter now, so most of my driving now is for fun, so definitely got a manual.

Hi Matt, it isn't "pillarless", but it is a nice car!

Not sure why you would bother with the four door. I had a ride in the back of one of these a few years ago. It was a pain, quite literally, to get in and out of and very claustrophobic when you were in it. Save some money and get a 5 series. Why pay more and get less? Sorry, I don't get it.

Glass is always like that on back doors so the window can go down due the angle around wheel arch

One of the best modern BMWs, but no match for the original 635CSI .

I really love the interior of this, I think it's the best version of this era's BMW interiors.
