Hey everyone! I appreciate the helpful suggestions, but just wanted to clarify my intentions with this video:

My goal was to show how the dresses came straight out of the package without any other adjustments, so people who are curious about buying can know exactly what they’re getting. I’m aware that boning, safety pins and getting these tailored would help.

Also, Elsa isn’t on backwards. If you don’t believe me, rewatch for the reference photo.

Thanks! :)

The Belle dress is doing that because it’s a corset without boning, adding steel or plastic boning is a relatively inexpensive method that will work wonders for the structure!

Elsa dress is the definition of "its not that bad, it just needs a little... shaping"

The Belle dress can easily be fixed either by attaching a magnet, velcro or even just stitching it down. Heck, even a safety pin underneath is fine!

Try putting a magnet on the bottom of the point for belle then a second magnet under the top layer

I see people suggesting magnets or snaps, but my suggestion, based on costuming both historical and modern, is to add some boning to the bodice (it will do wonders for the structure). It will help it keep its shape while still having a bit of flex for you to move around/bend. And then hook & eyes, but NOT the tiny wire ones, the more robust bar-like ones (like the skirt closure ones). You can also sew them to the top of the skirt & bottom of the bodice if you notice any gaping between the two when you move. A magnet or snap is not likely to be robust enough to keep the bodice front in place or stay fastened.

my recommendation for dokidoki is buy a little larger and make adjustments.. you're always gonna have some detail work to do with them anyways

Doki doki is kind of a hit or miss depending on the quality also. The SR quality, while still looking kinda cheap sometimes, is a lot more consistent and durable than the R quality. I’ve bought a few stuff from them and they have yet to disappoint. There’s also apparently an SSR quality that’s supposed to be top tier, but those are also waaay above my pay grade and honestly sometimes not even worth it.

Honestly did not expect that kind of quality from a cosplay advertised as an SR though. That doesn’t usually happen.

The elsa dress was sized for a taller person. i think it may not be a huge fix. The fabric looks good enough to alter, and you can add elastic or adjustable rings from a craft store to fix the sleeves. The hardest thing to fix would be that invisible zipper, but worst case scenario, you could reinforce the back and make it a corset top, which could help the fit even more.

That Belle dress is way prettier than the live action one 😭😭😭💛💛

The bell one. A mini safety pin works wonders. If you can find a thin one it would be the least damaging to the fabric. Or have a small button and loop sewn in

Even though buying stuff has made cosplay easier it never hurts to learn to sew anyways because bought cosplay usually needs a little help here and there. Putting in boning, adding snaps, knowing where to put in a dart and fixing zippers can take a bought cosplay from a 6 to a 10 by helping with fit and fixes.

I think both dresses would greatly benefit of boning, the part flipping on the belle one would stay down and the elsa one would stay up, especially at the back

I think I'm really dumb cuz at first I thought that Elsa's dress was put backward 💀

Honestly that belle dress is speaking to me the flip up being the only problem with it makes it seem perfect for new cosplayers

In the parks, Bell’s dress has a hook and eye between the top of the skirt and the bottom of the bodice. There are obviously plenty of other ways to fix it, but that’s how Disney handles the problem

I wish I had any reason to wear dresses like this to casual events
