Woodturning - Oak flower Vase colored with Acid!

Today il show you how i made a Vase out of oak

Il colored with 60% vinegar acid (60% vinegar with fine 000 steel wool, let them 2 weeks then filter it, than use it

il make a time lap that you can see how this acid works on oak

il sanded it up to 500 grit

for the finish il used woodturner oil from Steinert
the best woodturner oil what il used so far

Hi Roger....I believe this process is called "ebonizing"....although I could be wrong since the formulae I've seen involve the use of tanin (already present in your stock) and rusted steel wool (so you can hand mash it and add it into the mixture) as well. You have done an extraordinary job on both the turn and the coloring....just another magnificent piece of work! Best wishes and stay healthy my friend.
