Welcome to today’s video word problems. We are going to go over a simple trick that you can use to answer all the word problem questions on the SAT.

Trick: Convert words into numbers
What you need to know -
1. First, identify the key information from the question
2. Then use them to create 2 or more equations
3. Use systems of equations to find the answer

How to recognize - Word problems literally have a lot of WORDS in them. If you just see a wall fo text, there’s a high chance that it will be a word problem question.

What to be aware of - After you make the equations, make sure you made them CORRECTLY. If your equation is wrong, your answer will inevitably be wrong.

I finally identified my main problem with the SAT. Careful reading in the Math section.

Too bad my exam is in two days

if you're the type of person who's struggling in this question here's a good hint:
because you know that L=W+5 you can easily say that 104 = (W+5)*W and from there you can find the value of W and because L is 5 more than W you can find the value of L.
104 = (W+5)*W
W=8 L=8+5
L=13

An important tip is to plug the solution back into the word problem and make sure it makes sense. If you wind up with a negative answer on a unit that can’t possibly be negative like age you know you’ve made a mistake.
