It is the Soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

This poem by Charles M. Province: It is a Soldier. We all live freely here in Canada today, because our brave men and women were willing to sacrifice it all on foreign shores. Thank you.

Thank you. I've found it to difficult to attend these past few years. It was good to see the crowds were so deep.
On October 22, 2014 I was working the food contract looking after the Hamilton reservist regiment. I served them all breakfast and sent them on their way with a bagged lunch, including Nathan. Then we looked after them until Remembrance Day that year.

In my youth, I took these days seriously. Now, with all the conflicts and wars that continue to be waged year after year, I wonder what our true intentions are. We set aside a day to commemorate those who lost their lives in war. But how about some real action to ensure more lives are not lost in endless, pointless conflicts. Let's hold our "leaders" accountable to the lives of soldiers that they send into conflict zones.

And Trudeau is in Cambodia. He's so patriotic and must love Canadians lmao

Sophie is not an elected official thus not a representative of the Canadian citizenry…WHY wasn’t the MP for veteran’s affairs nominated to place the wreath in Trudeau’s absence ? Justin didn’t need to go to Cambodia, it shows how little respect he has for our veterans.

The vintage aircraft that flew past were a Hurricane, a Spitfire and a Harvard. There was no Mustang.

Why would Trudeau want to be there to face the veterans in Ottawa after what he did to our veterans during the freedom protest

Good to see the War Memorial being filled with the people who actually deserve to be there.

I wonder how many of the people that showed up to pay their “respect” for all of those that died so future generations could be “free”, and then pissed all over the graves of the fallen, when they gladly gave up their freedoms for unlawful “mandates” and demanded that their neighbours give up their freedoms as well?? #FreeDumb

This is the first year I did not celebrate Remembrance day. I am grateful to the WW2 veterans and those who have follen fighting nazis. Unfortunately, it is all different now. Now Canada supports nazis in Ukraine. Remembrance day is becoming hypocrisy.

Here we Nov 11 bemoaning our fallen and saying lest we forget but it seems our leaders have forgotten. We formed NATO after the last big one to stop this usurpation of power by a strong country over a weak one yet all we did and do is give lip service along with some weapons so the weaker can compete when all NATO and it's leaders could simply have embraced Ukraine as a member and that poutin guy would have turned tail and run back to his mistresses .This is just like WW2 when the cowardly Americans sat on the sidelines until they were forced into it . AND they still run seem to run afraid . And we follow suit .

I wasn't aware that Mary Simon served in the army. Why then is she in uniform? Playing dress up like her leader. Some would consider this as Stolen Valour. Disgusting, shameful and criminal.
