Lay Siege - 'Explorer' BlankTV Premiere!

Formed in January 2010, Northampton quartet Lay Siege create their own distinctive sound somewhere between metal and modern post-hardcore. Their debut mini-album "Obolus" was recorded in 2011 with producer Jonny Renshaw and has been described as "deliciously sludgy" and "full of head crushing riffs". After proving themselves to be a formidable force in the Midlands underground scene, 2012 will see Lay Siege hit the road taking their passionate live show across the UK and Europe.

Played a gig with these guys when they were small... Their energy completely blew me away! Needless to say, they haven't got any worse. Plus they have Bill Hicks in the related videos, which is always a positive.

Linked here through Acoda. First I've heard of these guys, and pretty good. I like that the UK is getting an energy to its music again; could be like Norway in the 90's (or even the UK in the early 80's) and influence a whole decade of metal. That being said, something I felt was begging to happen in that song was a solo. I can't figure out why this sub-genre of metal sticks so rigidly to the '*-core' ethos of sludgey riffs... 1:12 or 2:15 felt like segways into a Periphery like solo. Good tune.
