In today’s video, (apart from witnessing me getting wacked in the face by a boom arm) we will cover the Rode PSA1 boom microphone arm, understanding why I went with that over a desk stand like the Samson desk stand and see how that arm supports the Shure Sm7B in my setup with Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 as the pre-amp.

Does it screw on all the way where it’s tight cause my feels secure but if I move it to the left it’s unloosen? I feel like it doesn’t screw on all the way

I have the rode psa1 and the shure sm7b. the threads don't match to attached. did you use an adapter? I see in the manual that it includes the furnished accessorie 5/8 to 3/8 thread adapter. But I can't find it.

I have an SM7B, been using it with the Rode PSA1 for about 3 odd years now. Two nights ago, the arm snapped off from it’s base and damaged my mouse. The base where the arm connects to the desk clamp is clumsily held together by some… glued pads? Not sure how to word it. I’m now back in the market for a better quality mic arm.

Hello! I just purchased the SM7B but I got a little confused when I saw the female is 5/8 and I think I saw that this boom arm is 3/8. What am I missing here? Also, do you have any idea if this boom arm is still produced? It seems to be out of stock everywhere.

Fantastic video!!😁 Quick question: You use the Shure A26X for better movement. I'm also thinking of getting the sE DM1 Dynamite (in-line pre-amp like cloudlifter) which would sit in the same location as the A26X (I think). And it is also about 3 inches in length...so would I also need the A26X? I'm new to all this audio stuff so I'm not sure! lol

Hi, I can’t connect the Mic to the boom arm ( both are same as yours) because the Shure screw attachment hole is more narrow than the Rose arm screw. Am I missing a part?

I had the same thing happen with the arm of the stand! It sprung out of my hands and landed on one of my laptops. Thankfully the laptop and I were safe, but eesh—they could do better on that.

Great video... I just ordered my Shure Sm7b and checking out videos for best setups. Looks like I have lots of work to do sound wise but I’m going with the Rode boom arm for sure.
