Blizzard just released a new Overwatch 2 Beta Patch adding in some new abilities to a few support heroes, Moira now has an Enfeeble orb, Necrotic orb that applies a weaken status effect to an enemy and Mercy gets a movement boost meter while using Guardian Angel that allows her a burst of extra movement in any direction, ie super jump with more control. I actually think the armour thing is the biggest deal for brig. Because she has so little, she was very likely to get the extra benefit that the old armour provided when just got hit by something like a hanzo arrow.

I never thought I'd see the day Moira is a direct counter to...well, everyone. As someone who mained Moira for the last many seasons I'm VERY excited to see this in action

People have already talked about how this mercy change guts her ability on console. But one factor that affects both platforms is you can only super jump if you are far away from your team. If your team suddenly backs up to where you are, or you find yourself in the middle of a fight all of the sudden, if you can’t fly to someone who is far away you cannot escape because your jump will be puny. The original, you could super jump from any target regardless of distance.

As a Mercy player, there are both positives and negatives with the new SJ. The good ones is that you can now do a backwards jump very easily, which is basically the top level mechanic of her tech that very few people are able to execute and you can now dart in different directions, therefore making it easier to get to places for cover and making you harder to predict.

The downside is the actual superjump tech. The whole point with Mercy is that you don't need to aim, so the higher skilled you are with her, the more you look around and look to your next 2+ more steps or GA targets, so the good thing about original SJ is that you can continue looking around the battlefield to make sure nobody dies or to find out the best dmg boost opportunity. However, with this SJ, you are forced to look away from your teammates and look and the skybox or the floor and do a backwards SJ to perform a regular SJ, which is inheritanly bad for both the player, as their awareness of enemy positions cuts out temporarily, and worse for their teammates, because they can't save someone from dying while doing a SJ because they can't see them. Another downside is that is takes too long to charge the SJ. In small areas or tight spaces, the good thing about SJ was to use it to fly above the fight to avoid dying, or go to highground, also to avoid dying. Now that is not possible anymore, because in close quarters, all it does is a small slingshot, so you will most definitely die in close quarters now.

I think one more iteration where they address that and they will be good to go. I think they are close to perfecting it, just need to try a little more.

Weaken is actually kind of awesome as certain characters are much more affected than others. For example, Hammond can still boop and slam to their full CC effect despite being weakened. Mei can still slow and ice wall. Really any character that provides utility beyond damage will be able to ignore / counter Moira more effectively.

My probelms with the Mercy change:
1. We can no longer max superjump when close to an ally because the meter won't fill up.
2. It's so inconvenient how you have to look up to do a vertical jump because you cant keep your eyes on your allies or enemies. It would be better if they likened it to tracer's blink where it would let you jump vertically by default bet you can change directions with your arrow keys.

I think having a visual meter for Guardian Angel is great! They just need to fix some of the jankiness and add back some of the previous mobility

Its amazing how fast these patches are done. I don't remember it happening last year or a year before that. I hoping this is a good outlook for Ovwrwatch 2.

Seeing Junker Queen’s kit and thinking back to the Roadhog heal pool on experimental makes me think that the plan was always for tanks have support utility

This sucks for console players like me because there is no way I can look up and down that quick to jump vertically, I'll end up loosing vision of what's going on around me and get killed. Cheers devs.

mercy's new superjump looks absolutely horrible for console. even with max sensitivity, you really cant look up that fast and it essentially removes superjump from her kit on console. i really dont like this. while it maybe good for PC... this is looking so bad for console, just keep superjump the same as in OW1...

I think this will be similar to brig when she first came out. She’s already had a lot of free value but now I think she’ll be ovetuned

yeah yeah, but moira herself has no way to confirm kills now without her damage orb, so while the enemy will not kill you, you also can't kill them.
so it isn't as useful as you might think.

i kinda like new mercy super jump, except that you have to either flick your camera fast, or start aiming early. like if you're on a controller, or just aren't good at flicking the camera quickly. i imagine lots of mercys that got used to old super jump, and relied on the ability to go vertical without drastically changing their camera aim, might find the new version rather annoying to deal with.

which is kind of a shame, as mercy (so im hear, and i agree) is one of the easier-to-learn, gateway heroes for the game, and making a thing more mechanically difficult for players that like that about her, seems pretty unfortunate.
