One tip I picked up from another tutorial--when you add your water to make your gradation, start in the lightest part of the color and work your way to the darker/heavier pigminted area then work back smoothing out any blobs. It helped me get smoother gradations.

Im from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. The fact that you mentioned my home, put a smile on my face. Great tutorials!

I save the ink bits after sharpening the Inktense pencils, I also do the same with watercolour pencils as they are both more pigmented than the pan paints I have and offer more colour choice.

On occasion I will use my watercolor pencils for sketching prior to using watercolor paint to finish the picture. One can use blues for outlining the sky or clouds, greens for tree or grass leaves, red for bricks or rocks, etc. The pencil will dissolve and become part of the paint. In this way one does not see a ‘pencil’ underneath the paint.

I used inktense pencils to draw a portrait and it is a learning curve but I love these pencils and bought the 72 pencil last year. I am going to start on a 18x24 watercolor pencil drawing using inktense pencils.

If you get some rough textured plastic, you can scribble on this and mix the colours before applying to the sketch. Caran d'ache
make a board especially for this, it's called the Palette Aquarelle.

Love how this turned out. Just bought some myself and was very pleasantly surprised at how they worked out.

What a great sketch - love the door and love the colours. I have the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils and find them very easy to work with. They layer well and the colour stays vivid after drying. They also blend well without leaving pencil marks. Thanks for sharing your wonderful style.

Bought a set of these years the strongest pencils available i think! I take the color off the brush with some water.

7:27 Caran d'Ache the best water brush. I have the full set (orange-, blue-, black-capped). The water controls with the piston system and dedicated buttons on the side is a lot better than any other water brushes I tried. This was an excellent episode.
