Valence bond (VB) theory explains how of quantum mechanics help us to explain chemical bonding. It focuses on how the atomic orbitals of the dissociated atoms combine to give individual chemical bonds when a molecule is formed. Orbital hybridisation (or hybridization) is the concept of mixing atomic orbitals into new hybrid orbitals (with different energies, shapes, etc., than the component atomic orbitals) suitable for the pairing of electrons to form chemical bonds in valence bond theory. Different types of hybridisation-sp,sp2sp3, etc. In this video, we wil cover:-
.What is Valence Bond Theory?
.How does orbitals overlap?
.Different ways in which orbital overlaps.
.Covalent bond formation based on overlapping.
5. What is sigma bond?
.Examples of sigma bond.
7. What are Pi bonds?
8. Which bond is stronger-sigma or pi bond?
.Rotation of sigma and pi bonds.
.Difference between sigma & pi bond.
.Drawing shapes of different molecules.
.What is hybridization?
.Different features of hybridization.
.Conditions for Hydridization to take place.
.Different types of hybridization.
.Example of sp Hybridization
.Example of sp2 Hybridization
.Example of sp3 Hybridization
.d-orbital Hybridization
.Hybridization of elements involving d Orbitals.
.Valence bond theory: sp3d hybridization
