Don't let the term 'programming language' intimidate you! Ren'Py is simply comprised of a set of instructions that you con provide to a computer in order to produce a visual novel. In this tutorial series, I'll break things down into simple, step-by-step instructions that will help you produce your visual novel!

There are a few channels that create Ren'Py tutorials. I think I've sampled all of them, but to me *yours* are the clearest and most useful! Going to watch them all!

Not that it is important, but you do not have to have any defines at all. You could have:
"Steven" "Hello, my name is Steven."
And that would work as well; the first quotes are used at the name, the second is the dialog. The defines just save you some work and make it easier to change the name later on without rewriting all the code. Anyhow, nice start. I picked JEdit myself, but I may have to try out the Atom editor.
After using Ren'Py and the Godot scripting language, both are based on Python and I am gaining a new appreciation for the Python scripting language.

As of Ren'Py version 8.2.1 when you get to 2:10 you would be asked to select where in your computer to save your project to. 4:28 you will be asked to choose your EDITER your options are; Visual Studio Code (with hyperlink to update), System Editor, Visual Studio Code (SYSTEM), or NONE. Which would i want to choose to go with? "ATOM" at 1:27 does not exist and i've not seen that as an option ever. i love how the TUTORIAL in Ren'Py for "Creating a new game" mentions at the end "Atom might be a safe choice" when it appears to not be a choice.

If you use notepad ++ as an editor remember to replace tabs by spaces otherwise your script wont work
