America’s longest-running pony car is new and improved for 2024, bringing familiar style, a much-needed revamped interior and more. Join Edmunds’ Brian Wong as he guides us through our 2024 Ford Mustang First Look!

The all-new 2024 Ford Mustang introduces the seventh generation of Ford’s most iconic model and the original pony car. Though the initial rumors suggested the new Mustang may offer things like an electrified powertrain or all-wheel drive, that’s not what we’re getting — the 2024 Mustang keeps the same engine options and rear-wheel-drive layout of the last-generation car. There might be a good reason for this: The Mustang’s primary competition looks to be disappearing, meaning that in a few years this might be the only gas-powered American muscle car remaining. And that could translate into plenty of sales. Exterior styling has been tweaked, but the basic shape of the Mustang will be familiar. The largest updates happen inside, where the cabin gets a tech infusion with larger screens and a simplified layout. We’re still waiting for some important details on the 2024 Mustang, including power figures for the engines and pricing, which we will be sure to report as soon as they become available.

What do you think about the seventh-generation Mustang sticking with gas power exclusively? Let us know in the comments below if that's exciting, or if you want an electric Mustang pronto!

I cannot stress enough how much I HATE climate controls only being in the screen. My wife's Edge is like that and it drives me nuts every time I drive it, especially when swapping from my F-150 that has physical buttons for all the options.

As for changes over the current powertrain, the 5.0-liter V8 enters its fourth generation with a handful of revisions to make more power. The most obvious: dual throttle bodies. The 5.0-liter V8 now breathes through a pair of throttle bodies to supply more air while new camshafts make the most of the revised induction system.

Why did they put the back and front end of a mustang on a camaro body?

I like it! Every new Mustang takes some getting used to, but I'm already warming up to it. Should be super easy to get one of these to 500 horsepower.

Great review. It's strange to not be able to reach the screen...you should be able to touch the dash.

My god the massive interior screen is the final insult. These are not couches. These are cars--inherently physically involving. Stop this dumb trend. Thank god they had the mind to put switches in unlike VW.

A beautiful car. Unfortunately not really new. It is based on the current sixth generation. Technically, there is accordingly little progress.

Ehh...nothing beats a Shelby GT350 imo. This one looks a bit boxy and I hate the shape of the brake lights in the rear.
