If it weren't for the housing market situation where you have to make 3 times the amount of rent, to be able to move into a place, I'd be in Florida area NOW!! Not sure what I mean?

Say I wanna move into a decent apartment in Naples Florida. The rent is $1400/month. By this marketing thing they got now in this country, I would have to have an income of $4200/month. And that's aside from whatever move in costs it will take... such as first, last, and a safety deposit and pet fees or pet rent.

Let's just put it this way. I was set to move to Wilmington, North Carolina, near the beach. I found a nice apartment, and the rent was $1200/month. I even think the renters wanted a $200 pet deposit or something. No problem.

I had $6, 000 in the bank. Plenty to not only move with, but also cover the move in costs.

Renters said nope. After they checked my income verification, they determined that i couldn't afford the place. Huh? $6000, i could afford 3 times rent right there, after I took out costs for a u haul and travel expenses. 3 times rent UP FRONT! I could've dropped rent for 3 months on them.

But no. Because at my current income living in Arkansas, having a job, making an income of about $2100/month, I couldn't afford the "$4200/month" apartment in Wilmington North Carolina.

Which wasn't actually $4200/month. Actual rent was $1200/month. Which was WELL within my income rate. So, it's seems that in the past 10-12 years, renters don't care that you can pay rent up front anymore. You gotta show them that you can afford 3 months' rent worth of income as well up front.

In summary. Do you want to move to a place in Naples, Florida? Okay. The rent is, say, $1400/month. You better have a current income of $4200/month. Plus, the move in cost, which could be as high as $4000 with first, last, safety deposit, pet fees (possibly pet rent too), and the amount for background checks and income verifications.

Then, if you're renting a u-haul and the travel expenses to get you to your new place. AND, once you move in, there's the cost to get you settled there such as getting gas and electric and water turned on, internet and TV, possibly trash pick costs... first weeks groceries.

I guess I can move into a rental when I can afford to BUY a house!!!

Sorry for the rant...
