HOW WE GET INTERNET IN OUR VAN! Our OFF-GRID mobile WI-FI set up in a campervan or motorhome.

With us both working on the road remotely, digital nomad style, one of the questions we are regularly asked is "how to get wi-fi in our van" and "how we stay connected on the road?"

Now we are certainly no experts, so, this is just our set up and how it works for us. We've no idea if its the best mobile wi fi system out there for your campervan or motorhome but we can tell you, after two years of continuous use, in the UK and in Europe, that it's worked great for us.

To be honest, after finishing our van build and wanting to get on the road to live van life in europe, we just bought what looked the best, as obviously with uploading all this content to YouTube, social media and lots and lots of streaming, we wanted a good wifi setup.

Your network provider will play a huge part in how good your connection is, so please bare that in mind, we've tried the cheap ones and they are no good for Emilys work as they have real trouble connecting to her remote server, this is just a problem we had and don't have the technical knowledge as to argue the why, we just know the signal was never as good and we had problems.

FOR SOME REASON I CANT PASTE THE LINK TO WHAT WE'VE GOT BUT JUST GOOGLE THE COMPANY 'MOTORHOME WIFI' AS THAT'S WHERE WE GOT OURS FROM.
(We don't have a discount code as this video is not sponsored, we just made it for those of you who are asking)

Hopefully you are enjoying this European travel series as much as we are and we are managing to show you just some of the stunning landscapes that France has to offer in this French travel vlog.
As usual, we have tried to include a bit of everything, some cinematic scenery mixed with our usual female van life foolery, we always love hearing what you lot think in the comments so do let us know, and as always, thank you for watching!

Follow us on our journey as we attempt to create a proper youtube travel series as we, two female travelers and vanlifers, attempt to travel across Europe in our rolling tiny home.
Hit the subscribe button to see where our DIY campervan takes us next and how this van life couple copes living in a van!

Have a look at emily's blog for her thoughts on all things van..
(this is also where you will find all our park ups and list of our film making gear)

STARLINK - for those of you asking. Yes we will consider it, but only when the coverage is increased, so for example, it doesn’t yet cover Norway or sweden, in fact most of Scandinavia, so would have been useless on this trip. I believe it’s patchy in Scotland still and have heard mixed reviews when parked under an obstruction, trees etc.
as the product improves we will definitely look at it but for now it’s much cheaper and more reliable to keep what we have. 😀😀
ALSO, I’m not saying everyone needs a setup like this, or if this is even the best, but for us who work online all the time a bigger system is required. This video is literally to answer the people that ask how we do it, and remember it’s a contract that provides the unlimited, not our system.

OMG 2.66 upload is all I have managed on in rural France for years, which is why I now have a Starlink satellite which is brilliant, but expensive to sign up for on the road connections. Thanks for information. Jo in 🇫🇷 France. X

So basically you get much better, both up and down, inside Fanny than you do outside Fanny... Who would have guessed? 🤣

Great video….really appreciate this content, so helpful. It’s the first vanlife video that has really explained and demonstrated the Wi-Fi setup. THANK YOU….and love the camper vibe videos always.

In the UK you are limited to just EE coverage. In Europe you can roam on just about any network, hence the better experience you’ve had there 👍

Thank you for this explanation, it's the best I've seen, now I understand it. Stay safe Sue and Bryn xx

Lou, your clear-cut tech savey skills, created an excellent informative vlog!
Here, in USA, it is one of the top subjects covered by nomad lifers, , then the topic of which power stations are best.
Yes, Star link is overly dissected by review vlogs. It's too early to give a full review subjectively. Depending where you are located at the time, any major cities nearby to get any starlink coverage. Many of us, are on a waiting list, for when it will be available in one's area, (possible 2023??).. In the mean time, so many have the exact roof layout with a booster setup to a router box wiring inside vehicle. Some use their cell phone carrier products while others use products like "weBoost" 4G/5G, that covers all carrier networks for all of North America. Keep on streaming!!🤗

Have a similar set up but not 5G ready - gives me some confidence that if and when I decide to work remotely I hopefully will have internet - cheers girls.

Good info. Enjoy these technical bits you provide and the way you explain it and do the tests to show us the differences. Very informative. Thanks.

Telia is the part state-owned previously state-agency owned network, so in all likelihood they will always provide you with the best signal, especially in remote areas.
