Feds: ‘Head of the Snake’ Taken Down In Nuestra Familia Prison Gang Bust

Federal prosecutors joined with Bay Area law enforcement to announce sweeping action against prison gangs in Northern California, characterizing the bust as cutting off "the head of the snake." Anne Makovec reports.

I used to be a "hang around" chillen with many Northeners throughout San Jose in my early 20s. Wearing red and being part of that crowd it seemed to be the thing to do. The Chicas loved the thugs and being associated with them you kind of felt you got part of that rep to being seen with them, hanging with them, drinking, partying with them.

I was approached to do illegal activities including taking part in an armored car robbery on the Eastside but I never went that far. Circumstances don't make the man they reveal them. I walked away, changed my number, and moved. Now when I check back on the people I used to hang out with most of them are dead and locked up.. The lifestyle is quick, flashy, and down right brutal to you in the end.

I feel bad for any immigrant from central or south America who thought that once they reached USA they would be safe from gangs and cartels. Maybe try reaching Europe or Canada? Not much better here.

Thank God it’s Federal agents in control here, if SF DA Chesa Boudin had any oversight over this he would have immediately alerted the gang members, provided protection and intelligence and overtly shielded them from any charges.
