Extracted Audio Remix.

1964 beat based version, of the original recording by American R&B songwriter and pianist, ‘Huey Smith’, energetically delivered by the then 21 year old New Zealand pop artist (born ‘Diane Jacobs’).

With a similar arrangement to the 1963 rendition by U.S. based singer, ‘Dee Dee Sharp’, this was a #1 hit in Dinah’s home country and received a fair share of pop radio airtime across Australia (some years later, after analysing record retail sales in 1964, the ‘Kent Music Report’ confirmed it had peaked at the national #17 position during a long chart run of 30 weeks).

Collectors would note that Dinah’s mono mixed single was initially issued in New Zealand under the name, ‘Daine Lee’, while the first release, and now highly sought after, Australian ‘HMV’ disc (pictured) was printed with the incorrect ‘Diane Lee’ moniker.

Australia release: Mid 1964.
Highest local chart position: #1 (Brisbane & Melbourne)

Interesting that the record label lists Dinah as Diane?
