Here’s our (Mrs Local’s!) new car - a Toyota GR Yaris Circuit Pack.

It should be obvious from this video, but first impressions are excellent from this little car - I’m really looking forward to getting to know it better over a few more miles!

As you recommended it so highly, I decided to buy one. Found a 22, 72 reg GR Circuit Pack with 33 miles only from new. Picking it up tomorrow. Even the insurance cost was reasonable but, then, I am an IAM member.

Great car. Owned mine since April 2021 (Australia). I only use for track days and driving days with my mates, all of who are in much more exotic machinery (911's, McLaren's, Lambo's, RS3's, AMG's etc). When I first had it, the car was scoffed at by them. Now they scratch their heads. One of my mates who owns a 992 GT3RS and a GT3 touring was so impressed with the Yaris he bought one of his own. Got two speeding tickets the first day he owned it and put 300 miles on it. Now thinks it's the best car he's ever had. I've added a few mods to mine (Camber bolts, String theory springs, Alcantara wheel and shifter knob, Eventuri intake, HKS Super Turbo exhaust, mild remap, braided brake lines, racing fluid, removed the back seat and imported a Recaro seat from the GRMN Yaris in Japan). The car is an absolute weapon and I've yet to find another car that can stay with it on a country B road. Just a joy to drive and to own.

My 2020 pearl white car I’ve had from new has now done over 45, 000 miles, it’s a stunning machine I use mine as a van with the seats rear permanently folded flat.

It was eventually homologated for the WRC2 class, so there is in fact a WRC rally car made out of this, just not in the WRC1 class :)

Congratulations on the new car. Hope you have many happy miles ahead.
Had the pleasure of a gr Yaris for a few days when they were first released, absolute riot on the right roads. Grips, stops and accelerates like a little rally car. I consumed two tanks of fuel in 3 evenings spirited use, very enjoyable to make progress and in your hands will be appreciated.

These Yarises are amazing little cars, aren't they? Not to be underestimated! Congratulations!

Great new purchase and as an owner myself I would urge you to get your dealer to turn off the piped engine sound you will enjoy the natural sound far better also while talking of exhaust whilst quiet it is a very light system and efficient too

Great little car, good to hear you appreciate its breadth of ability! Had mine for two years and about 23k miles and it never fails to impress and amuse. Done track days, tip runs, Alpine road trips, commuting, autobahn storming etc. and it just laps it all up. I've never had a car elicit such a positive response! Lots of thumbs up, smiles and waves just driving around and people regularly go out of their way to come and talk to me about it. The fake noise can be switched off btw, makes the car much more pleasant in day to day use.

Good choice on your new purchase and thank you for sharing your in-depth review !! For over 15 months of searching, I got lucky to have acquired a GRMN Yaris in Japan last month, after visiting all dealers in different places of the country that came with reasonable offers (i.e. low milage, no mods, zero track-use, and only with a reasonable premium). I could in anytime compare it with my Porsche GT4s (both generations, M/T of course) in terms of enjoyment.

Yes, definitely a voice-over said with a smile!

A good small car can be even more fun to drive than a powerful larger car, so I totally get that. Loved the gearbox on my old Toyota Celica too: I reckon the Japanese make great boxes. Enjoy 👍

Have had mine just over 2 years. Still smiling every time I drive it, wash it or just see it. Wouldn't swap it for anything.

5:50 Toyota did make a rally car out of this one but just this year, using the body and engine. It's the Rally2 and it has already won rallies, in Rally Sweden there were 4 of them in the top 10, that is overall incl Rally1 cars! There is also the italian rally cup car that is much closer again to the stock car, at first with only 4 months development it was 7s/km off the pace of a rally2 (still very good) and now 3 years on it's only 2, 5s off the rally2 pace on tarmac. Love mine for fun.

Thanks Reg for teaching me to become a good and safe driver (PH days), now with this car it's full circle :)

I love the fact it's putting a smile on your face, despite you're driving history 😎

Owned mine for nearly two years, multiple trackdays and the Nurburgring. The car is epic and like you I owned Imprezas. I had 6 including a P1 and I’d take the GR over all of them. Hope your wife enjoys the car and you too.

Great choice, ive had my Convenience Pack since late 21. Really really awesome machine. I dont hammer it, still on the same Dunlop tyres when i bought it, looking forward to putting on some decent rubber. I really appreciate the Convenience pack extras, quite beneficial for a daily machine.
Look forward to seeing more videos.

I've become a full on enthusiast owner of mk1 Yarises over the past 5 years. Currently drive a somewhat modified 2005 Yaris T Sport. I guarantee they used the exact same horn (21:38) as on the mk1, it sounds just like mine, and like a deliveroo moped 😂😂

Great video! 3years and 30k miles into mine, I couldn’t agree more with most of your comments. Grandkids don’t get near mine though!
Some nice roads around where you are but get this baby in the Alpes or Pyrenees and it just comes alive and leaves everything else in its dust.

First car I ever drove on first lesson, a Toyota Yaris. A lot older and worse than they are these days of course. Always like the look of them

Nice, spiritual successor to my old Celica GT4. We've had Mini's for ten years and are looking for. change but our upgrade will be from Cooper S' to a JCW; cant' get her away from the Mini.
