How to set up your Voicelive 3, with 8 tips and tricks to make things easier for you!

...and here is my Spotify link to my own music:

I've wanted to create this video for a long time, sharing some useful tips and tricks you can use when setting up your voicelive 3 pedal. There's so much in this pedal with looping, vocal effects, and guitar effects, that it can take some time to figure out!

Here's some of the things covered that are common problems or FAQ's, plus some ideas that might be useful to you, and how to find them on the unit.

Noise Gate - figuring out why your guitar cuts on when you want it to ring on...
Mic Clip Protection - the Voicelive 3 automatically adjusts your mic input gain
Re-mapping the 'Step' button - you can change this button on the VL3 to be pretty much anything you want it to be, and there is a way to still essentially use 'steps' by a bit of preset planning!
Vocals - reverbs and delays and effects all change with every preset - can be useful to write these down so that when you change presets, your vocal sound stays the same (if that's what you want of course!)
Assign loops, vocals, and guitar effects/triggers all onto ONE SCREEN. - yess, it IS possible!
Starting and stopping loops from the main screen - and adjusting which combinations of loops each trigger starts and stops (yes you can have two start at once from one pedal - and on the main vocal layer screen!)
Having two different harmonies for the same song. It's a workaround, but it does work effectively :)
Accessing the mixer screen on the Voicelive 3, and how you can send a loop only mix using the headphone out... (sometimes it might be handy!)

After 5 years with my voicelive3 I realized what happened with the clip protection and why the gain dropped drastically. OMG thank you man! Please make a Looper tutorial video. Again thanks a lot!!!

Got my VL3 Just after release. A few years ago. New I had about a 7 year learning curve. Please keep at the, tips an tricks. Watching your tut, took at least 1 year off my learning curve. I'm certain that composers 100 years from now will still b trying to keep up with the people that put this machine together. The complicated nature of the VL3 is very difficult to figure out. Can u believe that after all these years, I'm working up the nerve to try the looper. That I would never try, without your help. Thanks.

I really like the way you explain things. You’re just really calm and chilled, makes it easy to listen to. Also, I’ve had this pedal for a long time but just had to factory reset it 😭 and have a show tomorrow, so yes these tips were super helpful in reminding (and teaching) me some quick set up tips!!

Touring Japan AND taking time out to record and upload more great content for us eager fans?! You sir are a shining example of work ethic.
For me, the step button couldn't be more important, since I'm outsourcing all the looping responsibilities to the RC300. The step button helps me quickly build an elaborate mix of sounds before eventually landing me at whatever the vocal/guitar sound needs to be for the current song: so for What Is Love it'll be a delayed vocal with a bunch of reverb, or a slappy transducer sound for Pumped Up Kicks. Then when it's time for the next song, banking up on the VL3 also banks up my GR55, Handsonic and JDXI (or just an iPad if there were loads of stairs at the get in!)

I've been using the very basic functions on the VLE3 for about 2 years now, I SO appreciate you making these videos. I've started noticing vocal "bleed" into my guitar loops. I'm considering hitting the "Factory Reset" button, but decided to ask if you have any other suggestions. Have a wonderful time in Japan, we went a year ago and wow, what an amazing culture! So awesome to be touring there! Thanks again for your contributions!
