Thanks for mentioning the significance of this lure, especially to us Texans. It may not be the "right thing" but I know many of kids, including mine, who literally used hookless corkies for teething rings and toys. Its deeply rooted into a Texas inshore fisherman's arsenal.

I picked up the Lil John by Mirrolure and have hooked up on two big fish. Both got off for different reasons, but the erratic action definitely got their attention. Still learning the presentation but am going to keep it in my rotation. Throwing Gold Bream at the moment. Have you fished it?

Caught my PB 24" trout creeping a Softdine XL while wading the banana river.

I'm afraid to buy them anymore. Had a Plano 3700 filled with brand new soft-dines. Pulled it out of my man cave closet and the plastic turned slimy and the interior thru wire had rusted, turning all of them brown from the inside. They were still in their product packaging. These baits are the only Mirrolure product I will not buy.

Some guys here in Texas claim to throw them year round. I’m a novice at best, so I put together a 3600 sized box of half loud colors and half more natural and started to watch a lot of Mr Watkins’ videos!

My local waters have lots of oyster beds, so I have always shied away from subsurface lures with trebles. Knowing that bigger trout tend to prey almost exclusively on bait fish, what would be a good trout bait that can be rigged weedless? I was thinking something like a full size fluke (5+ inches) Texas-rigged, but I'd love to hear more suggestions. Thanks for the video, Captain!

Nothing beats a 1/4 oz underspin paired with your favorite paddletail (chickenboy whippin chicken.) I have caught specks, reds, bowfin, bass, channelcats.

Trout, Reds, Snook, Mangrove Snapper and Flounder including Big Bass have fallen victim to the Corky Fat Boy. I've caught these fish down here in Brownsville SPI Tx area. I used to go to Mr Brown's house back then and pick any color for only $5ea. I also replace the original hooks with #4 short shank Gamakatsu treble hooks for better action. The one thing I most recommend for any angler to do in making these lures last way longer is to fill and coat any tears, lacerations caused by toothy fish with LocTite Vinyl, Fabric & plastic adhesive with a little coloring paint brush that you can buy at Walmart.
