Jesus coming as a "Thief in the Night" doesn't mean what you think it does. After all, why is Jesus associated with a criminal? Why it is only at night? What ancient Hebrew custom was this phrase based on that the modern Church has forgotten. Click here to watch this Nelson Walters Video to find out.

I believe that Mathew 24:29 tells us exactly when Jesus will come again, 29“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, " Which confirms that He will come in the night. In my mind this also would seem to point toward a mid-trib rapture...JMTC. God bless you all and keep you until that day.

As a pre-tribber I've been writing about this for a while. The Jewish high priest is a type of Christ and it was the high priest who had the nickname of the thief in the night as he would occasionally make a surprise visit the temple priests on guard duty. That is where they got the idiom from and Jesus is a perfect match as our High Priest. If one was asleep he would go to the altar and return with burning coals and set the priest's garments alight.

This is why the day of the Lord ends up with fire consuming the heavens and the earth at the end of the 100 years.

You are absolutely correct about the error of imminence. Again, I've been writing about that for ages. How can we be commanded to be watching for signs and then be told no one will know because there are no signs? I have no idea how that was ever accepted as making any sense.

Brilliant explanation! For years, I was amused that my Lord and Saviour, likened his coming, (The Day of the Lord), to that of ‘a thief in the night!’ Thank you very much for this video as I enjoyed it, and laughed out loud that you answered a question that I subconsciously wondered, as to why on earth, of all the analogies, would Jesus compare his coming, to that, of ‘a thief in the night.’ I assumed then that his coming would be: unexpected; that most people would be unprepared/caught off guard and finally distraught/dismayed by their losses.

Jesus comes when you are sleeping Christian. When you are praying wake up early daybreak break of dawn first hour you give God your first time your first fruits you watch for his return you expect you prepare yourself. The price of prayer of is many time sacrifice of sleep. Jesus prayed at night in the gardens. And found out his disciples were sleeping. Jesus said why are you sleeping can't you tarry with me for an hour? Pray for the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Prayer protects you from evil and it prepares you. Amen. 😊

He's not a literal thief! It simply means those who aren't prepared will be taken unaware.

I don't like that you are using AI to render images for your videos, especially images of Christ.

*edit* : After seeing how people have used the comments below to try to make this about some completely different topic or push some agendas, I regret making this comment in the first place. I was talking about AI specifically, not depictions of Jesus in general or the appearance of Jesus in depictions in general.

At night makes sense since Rosh Hashanah will begin with the sighting of the moon.

Yeah, Jesus doesn't steal. Jesus Christ purchased our salvation with His blood, and He defeated Satan.

Satan is the ultimate in delusional creatures. I cannot understand why that thing thinks it can beat its Creator.

Dr. Walters. What's the chance that this coming passover 24' that a Elijah type will announce himself at a passover seder somewhere being that the fall feasts are a big question mark with the tribulation?

Loose scholarship and acceptance of imprecise definitions is a major problem in communicating with other believers about the End times.

A couple of examples are tribulation, which can include all or none, depending upon how the person uses the word, and immanence (which I'm not exactly sure how to spell to be perfectly honest). However it's spelled, it does not mean "any minute". It means that something is could occur very soon. The "any minute" doctrine obliterates any chance to discuss things that are immanent, like the roaring of the sea and waves, and war in heaven, both of which Jesus Himself told us to watch for.

Willful ignorance is a difficult problem to solve.

"Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." I'm thinking the day will be a regular work day. Things will be relatively normal. Then we hear a trumpet blast.

Are we to listen to “Christian rock bands”? Does scripture tell us which instruments are acceptable to the Lord? Just an honest question. With love from your sister in Christ. Something I struggle with is knowing what music is acceptable to our Savior. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MR. WATERS!!! We need you!
